Richt said the coaches were not to blame, that it was the players not executing that lost them the game.

Could you imagine what would happen if Kiffin had said something like this?

ESPN would blow a fuse, and twitter would crash.

Classic case of an embattled coach trying to deflect blame from himself. Doesn't surprise me at all.

Very similar to Fulmer's comments in his last couple seasons.

Hard to believe Richt would throw his players under the bus. But if he did say that it was probably to deflect blame from his coordinators all the Georgia fans want fired.

Funny thing is that even if the players didn't execute very well it is still his job to ensure that they can execute the game plan. He can blame who ever he wants, it is still his fault.

His press conference is here:

Official Athletics Site of the University of Georgia Bulldogs

He never said that. He did make a comment at the end to the effect – We have to do a better job and it starts with me.

For all his faults it is BS to make stuff up about the man.

Joe Cox single-handedly lost that game. Several retarded INTs (including one on a screen pass to a D-lineman) and two fumbles on attempted pitches to the RB - one which was at the 2 yard-line to tie the game.

Thanks VolDad. I never would have believed Richt would make those type of comments about his players... just not his style.

Ah, what a difference good coaching makes. Case in point...

Joe Cox - wasn't that great to begin with, hasn't gotten any better
Crompton - terrible earlier on, now one of the better QBs in the SEC
