I'm with you on the no undefeated SEC team. We'll see about the other conferences... my gut tells me this will be another crazy year.

God yes. It is going to end up being a mess, because you'll have teams with 1 loss, but to a weaker team going up against another team with 2 losses to very tough teams... meanwhile there will always be an undefeated Hawai'i-type complaining.

Glad I'm not in charge of the BCS Computer.

because UCLA has no business on the field with us and the vast majority of sports writers know that.

But its not absurd to think that if we beat the brakes off them that the sports writers are going to be talking about Tenn as a team to beat.

Its the new OC and Offensive scheme and also the Quarterback situation that is keeping us out of the spot light. So after that 1st game if the offense looks good and Crompton looks good then we will be talked about as a team to watch out for.

But still... "the team to beat"? There will be buzz, sure, but until we're #1 (purely for an examples sake) we're not the "team to beat".

Yep, if we get by Auburn as well, look out. We'll be the flavor of the minute.

At a minimum, its nice to get the mention. He has noted our O-line as well.

I've become a big optimist about our O-line over the offseason. I think if we are going to have a great year, it will be because we can establish the run and open up the passing game as a result... and score just enough points to win some close games against the big 4 (FL, AL, AU, GA).

the only reason we are a dark horse is cause no one knows how crompton will play this yr... no analyst is gonna pick us over uf n uga right now

i just watched college football live on espn and one of the analysts picked Tennessee as a sleeper for the national championship saying that they have the best o-line in all of college football. he also mentioned crompton as a quarterback to watch to have a great season because the o-line is so good and he also mentioned his game as a freshman against lsu.

Sleeper of the SEC championship or a BCS bowl winner? Yes. Sleeper of the national championship? No. Glad to see Mark May had something good to say about us, as he usually did, but let's not get ahead of ourselves this early.

Even if Crmpton plas well, Fla and Auburn back to back really worries me. I could see a close win over Florida, then everyone asking what shape UT will be in after such a mentally and physically straining game.

In going with a recent change of pace at ESPN that includes putting us as "Titletown" candidates, our favorite college gameday boy Mark May picked us as a sleeper to win the SEC East. Is ESPN changing their tone towards us or is this just a hiccup?

I think the sleeper to win the National Championship was a bigger story. I don't think the defending champion winning it is really a "sleeper". History tells us it will be us, Georgia or Florida.

"Thank you thats what I am saying"

During the UCLA game if our offense looks really good and Crompton plays very well and we handle UCLA then all the doubts about the offense will slowly fade away and Tenn will be in the Talks to be a competitor in the SEC.
And of course we would have big talk if we beat Florida I know that......

no they won't. We'll be playing a middlin', at best, Pac-10 defense. There is no statement in that.

Just a few minutes ago you said it would mean NC contender talk.

Now it's just a competitor in the SEC?

No I did not I was answering the question about the guy who said why do people like us being considered a "darkhorse" and that he wants to be in the spotlight.

And I said if we win big in the 1st game then we will be in the talk as a competitor not a Darkhorse!

I said nothing about the NC!

May just said too that he feels Crompton is a QB to watch for having a good season this year
