Mark Ingram vs. Montario Hardesty

Not sure why everyone's mentioning our O-line as an added advantage that Hardesty is forced to do without. Our O-line was dismantled after our bowl game last year (didn't look too good in the bowl game for that matter). I would say the two O-lines are VERY comparable.

Another point, I remember reading that Ingram is elusive and Hardesty is a bruiser. I wouldn't describe Ingram by any other word than a pure Bruiser. He had over 100 yds rushing last night...... AFTER first contact.
We have a walk on starting at Center and another in the two deep at both guard positions. We also have a 280 pound RT and it is his first year playing line since being converted from TE.

Ingram is an absolute beast and should be the front-runner for the Heisman. Given that, Hardesty is capable of being better than him on any given Saturday and I hope next week is one of those days!

I give Ingram the nod for this reason: He got the burst and toughness of Hardesty, but seems better in the open field, to me, than Hardesty. I think his cutting ability--lateral quickness--is a better than Hardesty's. I hope I'm wrong.

I don't think O-line can be too big of an excuse for Hardesty's case. I think if you ask most of our coaches and even Hardesty, they'd tell you that the o-line has played well this year.

you can't argue that our line is equal in talent with bama's line. you just can't.

I didn't realize Tennessee was on the fritz in regards to their O-line. So much focus has been directed at QB play that I guess it has passed me by. If that's the case I like how our D-line will match up.

Ingram should be on the Heisman list and Tebow off. Ingram had over 100 yards after contact last night. Ingram vs Hardesty = Ingram.

I think both deserve to be All SEC at the end of the year. I haven't watched a ton of Bama so far this year...so I'll hold judgement on who's better until (at least) after today's game.

yea but ingram doesnt have 8 to 9 guys in the box everygame to run through... i think there both great backs but i think hardesty runs with more purpose and ingram has a scary supporting cast

what??

Taking out the WKU and Ohio game, Hardesty averages 93 yards per game.

Taking out the FIU and North Texas game, Ingram averages 151 per game. And that includes a 50 yard game against Arkansas.

Hardesty has not had a 100 yard rushing game against a BCS opponent.
Ingram has had 4 out of 5.. All over 140 yards.

Hardesty's average per rush is 5.4.. but in the WKU and Ohio games, his averages were 8.9 and 7.

Ingram ran 24 times for 246 yards against South Carolina.. 10 yards per carry, inlcluding his first 2 carries that both went for 0 yards. his last 22 carries went for 11.2 yards per carry. He averaged a first down every carry.
Obviously, I choose Ingram, partially because I am a homer, and partially because, supporting cast or not, the stats are undeniable.

Easy man, anybody with sense knows Ingram is a great back. We have one as well. Ingram has a better opportunity to put up stats with what he has around him.

They a pretty even.

I have to think that Upchurch and Richardson will both have a good game today as the TN def keys on Ingram. I think that Peek will have a good game too with the LB's so keyed in on the run. Ingram hasn't had a week off like Hardesty has and he carried a pretty heavy load last week.

Honestly, I haven't watched much TN ball this year but for some reason, I seem to remember Hardesty putting it on the ground in the past. I may be wrong but at my age, memory isn't my strongest point.

Good luck and I'm sure we'll see an exciting game.

not sure if this has already been asked, but who do you think is the better back? Let's try not to be homers... unless you honestly believe Hardesty is better.

Ingram is the better talent, but Hardesty is all heart. He's got the Emmitt Smith intangibles. I mean he's having a great season with a line that starts 2 walk-ons and a RS freshman who switched from TE. You gotta go with Ingram just because he's putting up such impressive numbers, but I'd love to see what Hardesty could do behind their line.
