The coach who developed Heisman winning quarterback Marcus Mariota, (who went to the National Championship Jan '15) has worked under NFL coach Chip Kelly, and has five seasons of QB coaching experience, Oregon Head Coach Mark Helfrich was released by Oregon yesterday.

If he would be willing to return to quarterbacks coaching, would it be completely ridiculous to consider if we're adding a QB coach to staff?

Thoughts?

If DeBord retires he could be a good fit as OC AND QB coach.

He will be an OC at a big time program or a head coach at a smaller program. I don't see him taking a QB coach job. Could be wrong, but seems like too far of a step back.

Sounds good in theory but I haven't seen anything out of Jones to suggest he is willing to step outside his safe space of close friends on offense.

From head coach with a winning record to Tennessee QB coach under Jones/Debord. Man I wish I had the creativity you all have.

hire him as our OC & QB coach. send Debord down to the local retirement center.

If Butch is stays for another year, hire Helfrich as OC and QB coach, maybe let Debord hang around and coach OL, let Shoop bring in his guys, and ride with it.

Besides ridiculous that he'd go from head coach to a QB coach no no thoughts

I'm curious why everyone seems to think Shoop can just bring in "his guys"? Are they unemployed? Are they quitting their stable gig to roll the dice on 1 year here? Just don't see it.

We use the same currency and speak the same language as the west coast so I think it could work.

In AZ? I lived there and might disagree on the language thing but that's a different discussion. He's always been a West Coast coach. Very common to see coaches (or their family) not want to go to a completely different region

It's amazing what $$$ and being out of a job will do to a man's family ties to a specific geography

We need to hire him as OC immediately and get a new OL coach as well. On defense the LB and DB coach need to be replaced yesterday.
