Mario Cristobal thinking about leaving Bama, should Butch call him?

A bidding war with Bama now would be more embarrassing than 49-10

Saban isn't losing him if he don't want to. Cristobal coaches tackles and TEs, is Asst Head Coach and recruiting coordinator. Saban can pay him whatever he wants. MC may want to go west or back to Fla. we don't need him at Florida.

Honestly, we may be able to outspend them. We do on recruiting. And it would in no way be embarrassing

OK to start with i don't get it why when someone leaves another program there is always a thread about we should go after this guy. Second off if you watch Alabama runs a pro style offense we don't. Butch is not going to even look at guys like this.

Kiffin at Bama did not run a pro style offense this year with Hurt at qb.

BAMA would just out pay us. Come on the running game is their bread and butter. No way the boosters are going to let him go. And didn't we hire an awesome LB coach they just let go? Should have been a sign.

Last couple of times we wooed away their coaches, they turned out just to be Saban plants who were like walking IED's in our program (Thompson, Sunseri). Should have known when Sunseri's kid stayed at Alabama, he was just here to screw us up as much as possible. Doofus didn't even see Saban's play till it was over.

AH. I was afraid we were running low on conspiracy theorists. Should have known just as long as we keep the light on at night, they will swarm in from miles around.

The main question should be...Does he have any ties with buTch or anyone else on our staff?

We know buTch likes to hire guys he knows and feels like he can trust.

If he's really that great at both coaching and recruiting then buTch should at least give him a call and see what the guy is thinking and what he wants for the next few years.

VFL...GBO!!!

If nick really wants him to stay, he'll bump his salary up a few hundred thousand. If not, they'll quickly find another top Oline coach from the nfl.

everyone down here loves him, it didnt go so well at FIU, but other then TY hilton i dont know what he had to work with.........

Seems to be a decent coach and a decent recruiter.....i assume if you are Jones, you speak to anyone willing to listen and gauge their goals and systems and compare it to your own.....

This^ UT has many many millionaires donating tons of money & private jets every year to our program. There aren't many programs out there that can say that. IMO, no school in the country can embarrass us as far as money is concerned.

Except Tn and Hamilton? TN should have never been in the Red.

The great thing about being a position coach is flexibility. If you get tired of the idiotic fans in Knoxville or Tuscaloosa, there are plenty of places you can go and coach while your family can live their lives for a couple of years before idiot fans there figure out who they are.

Maybe that is the case for Cristobal. As to bringing him here, it is up to a head coach whether or not he is worth a phone call to him or his agent. But I would think since we have Larry Scott covering S. Florida, would we be better off with someone connected to another region? Just food for thought.

I'm sorry, but equating Big Orange fans with Bama fans is a mortal sin. You may look forward to the company of Saban in the lake of fire.

Even so, it wouldn't be embarrassing. What would the headline be, "Cristobol gets raise from Bama after UT tries to steal him". Not embarrassing at all.

Just saw this today. Mario Cristobal is entertaining offers to other schools. Taggert has apparently offered him a job as have McElwain at UF. So should Butch give him an offer? I say hell yes and give him what he wants. For those who dont know, Cristobal is Alabamas OL coach and one of the best recruiters in the country.

If he came to UT, he'd coach Jones' system, Jones' way. What you are seeing from UT's OL is ultimately a reflection of how Jones has demanded things be done.

Jones IS a strong personality and leader. The Vols will reflect HIM for as long as he's the HC. He doesn't handle every detail... but every detail is handled his way and especially on O.
