Marcus Tatum quit team??

Why insult Peter Pan?

You think there will be no victims of the boycott? The boycott is directed at UT. There will be a lot of collateral damage. Players are part of the collateral damage. They aren't innocent, but they don't deserve a boycott. Neither does the waitress "an innocent victim" at the restaurant the boycotters won't be going to as well.

The players receive their scholarships regardless of the fan participation.

I can't beleive a true fan would throw a temper tantrum and demoralize this team any more than they already are. Empty Neyland is pathetic and NOT the kids fault.

Don't renew tickets, don't donate, don't buy branded clothing or concessions at the stadium if you want to make a point. People have a right to attend or not but if you think no showing to "teach UT a lesson" is the right move then I feel sorry for you.

GoVols!

I wonder how many came to UT with the expectation that the Vol fans would show up for their games and be loud?

I wonder how many expected that when the going got tough Vol fans would boo, bash and insult them and their coaches?

I wonder how many support the boycott?

Or since they have their scholarships their feelings don't matter. Only the hurt feeling of Vol fans matter now.

I get that the players are disappointed in the fan support, and it probably stems from their frustration in how they are playing, their record, etc. The fact is, economics always plays a part in these situations. If the product on the field isn't good and we are watching the Vols take a beating every week, eventually the excitement fades and people do not want to come to the games. Do the Cleveland Browns have a full stadium every week being 0-8? Did the Braves have many fans in the seats when they fell way behind in the standings? Since these are college kids, I would like to think about it differently, but in reality people will get less and less excited about watching mediocrity and find other things to do. With that being said I plan to be at the game.

Peterman and others. Jones didnt give them rings because they transferred but they were on the roster. 1340 was saying Peterman was initially turned down but Jones eventually gave him his. I believe it since others who were on the roster were obviously shafted. Some maybe didnt deserve theirs while other players simply transferred and Jones took it personally.
Pearson, Wharton among Vols that didn’t get bowl rings - Sports - The Daily Herald - Columbia, TN

That's messed up, if the kids played in the game, they deserve the rings just like the rest.

Just another reason why Jones needs to be gone.

You can't just turn chit into shine-ola, can you? UT has enjoyed a huge fanbase, but there is a general feeling about that the UT Admin takes them for granted.

The product on the field, the lack of player development, is a 5 year visual display. All of this team was recruited by CBJ, at least the ones who haven't left the team for various reasons. And they haven't one an sec game yet as we go into November.

This isn?t the fans fault, this is on the AD?You can?t let things get out of control like this. I think he is either hoping this blows over, or waiting until the end of the year to make a change with someone already in line. Well, you can?t do that now. Emotions are too high and it?s giving everyone a black eye.

But it all falls at the feet of Currie
Any incoming coach will respect Currie more for not firing Butch now and letting the season finish out or at least waiting a couple more games than by having a knee jerk reaction and firing him now to appease the vocal fanbase. Currie doesn't have to let the fans know anything and he is proving that quite well. He owe's no one outside of a select few of his superiors any answers at this point and he will let the rest of us know whats going on when the time is right.

There was a time that practically no coach was let go during the season for not winning. Sadly our society now wants instant satisfaction and everyone seems to think that only their personal opinion matters.

To me, it makes no difference if he stays until the season is over or is fired tomorrow. I personally hope the stadium is packed Saturday but it probably would not be for this game anyway regardless of our record.

The players need support. The administration is well aware of the fans dissatisfaction of the program right now and an empty stadium would show me and the rest of the country that most of our fans are immature.

Go VOLS!

If that made him quit then I can't believe he's a right tackle. Wow! Empty Neyland should make them want to play harder to show what they can do.

Actually Empty Neyland should make them puke. Not exactly sure what we're trying to prove (other than stupidity) with that philosophy. Do you support the team or is it just about the coach? CBJ is gone! It's just a matter of timing that includes a lot of factors you know nothing about. Cool your jets, support your team and stop showing your ignorance.

It would send a message, but not that the fan base is immature. And sure, Currie doesn't owe us answers now - but you let this continue and the fan base in general will start losing interest. It won't happen overnight, but sooner or later attendance would dwindle due to lack of interest one way or the other. And when that happens, the economics will truly kick in and out school/athletics will truly be in a bad spot.

"""Insult them and their coaches?"""" I guess to be a real Vol, we should state how much we love butch, in every post we make, and support butch getting another contract extension.....?????? I hope not. The pathetic (jones supporting)people calling themselves Vol Fans, have supported this idiot [jones] until we are where we are. If you would really like to support the program-do what you can to speed up the departure of the worst coach in modern times.:hi:

He was very vocal about his disappointment in Vol fans. Said the empty Neyland movement was extremely disheartening to the team. Looks like we’re killing the team- but hey, at least we’re making a statement, right ?

yeah we're an a****** fan base

I disagree and think it is immature to have a movement to empty the stadium. However, I agree with the rest of what you said. I too think it will eventually happen naturally over time and I believe that is the way it should happen.

This got me curious about football revenue so I Googled quickly and found out that UT is #2 behind only the other UT (Texas) coming in at $109 million. Texas had $127 million. Apparently UTenn turned a profit of $80 million so they may have some cash to burn too. The numbers differ a little depending which website you visit.

THIS^^^^
I don't want to do anything to make the players think I'm down on them, like not showing up or booing, etc. I greatly appreciate everything those guys on the field give every game. I feel sorry for them with the crappy coaching they've had to endure over the last 8-9 years.

It's official....., we've got some of the dumbest fans in the country. We are a trailer park frenzy

Goes with some of the dumbest coaches, admin and players. While were at it lets throw the cheerleaders and band under the bus too

You are a clueless fan. If you don't get coached right then how is it your fault. Don't tell someone to check themselves because you dream to be something you can't be. Fandom brings about ignorance but when you have heard or seen the horror stories not told as a part of a Halloween concept by many different players it's embarrassing. Kids sign an LOI with the intent to become better and be a pro. The offensive line coaching and concepts under Lyle have been ridiculous. Ppl knocked Stone and co When They said it was awful. Then they knocked kids who came and left but hadn't panned out like Blair, etc. This is and has been a problem dating back to S/ C on down. Azzani, Jake, Debo, Janzeck, etc take the fall for 1 problem which always has been the band member HC. All the crap about nobody knew Kendrick had a concussion Yeah f'n right. They all knew per a player on the offense who said it was noticed a few times as the team came to the sidelines during a time out before and after half time.

I guess I'm out of likes or something but I like this post

I can’t believe some believe keeping Butch is a good idea. We as fans of football have every right to make our voices heard and the fact is when it comes to situations like this, money is the only thing that matters.

For those crying “I will always support the players”, give me a break. I can pull for my Vols just as easily by watching the game on my television.

We're all ready to see Butch go. But who is empty neyland really hurting? Butch is going to walk away a rich man. The champions of life with the five-star hearts are the ones who will absorb the punch. And it ain't gonna feel good.
