Marcus Tatum quit team??

He was very vocal about his disappointment in Vol fans. Said the empty Neyland movement was extremely disheartening to the team. Looks like we’re killing the team- but hey, at least we’re making a statement, right ?

From the way they have played this year I thought they were already dead.

This is the most ridiculous statement. How on God's green earth could you think that it should make them play harder? Would you play harder knowing that your fan base bailed on you?

You want fan support, start playing top level football. The kids are on a free ride, just to play football. You give less than 100% on the field, we as fans have every right to give less than 100% support. My hard earned money can be used more wisely and on things that are not painful to watch.

I acknowledge their right to do it. But I have NO RESPECT for the emptyneyland crowd. It's BS and the pinnacle of POOR SPORTSMANSHIP by a bunch of crybabies having a tantrum like the kid in a store who's mom won't buy him the candy in the checkout lane.

WAH WAH WAH WAHHHHH!

Bunch of babies!

You forget that college football is entertainment for the fans and if they loose all the time it is not entertaining. So why waste your money on a poor product when you can stay home and watch good football on tv

Spending your own money and choosing not to, staying home instead of going to games etc is one thing. Openly advocating for a mass boycott is another.

Neyland was going to be empty for this game, regardless of any organized movement.

Clam down folks.

Since you won't at least support the seniors in their last three games as VFLs, ...please, you and all the other whiners take your money elsewhere. Anywhere.

Your parents failed you. You were poorly raised. The real meaning of sportsmanship flys right over you guys heads.

If that made him quit then I can't believe he's a right tackle. Wow! Empty Neyland should make them want to play harder to show what they can do.

The players have been playing very hard; their execution just hasn't been particular good. But sending the message to them that they are not worth watching will almost guarantee that a lot of those kids will just shut down their effort...or quit altogether apparently. #EmptyNeyland is making a bad situation much worse, IMO.

Not sure how a boycott is wrong. As fans do we not have a right to make a statement. These folks work for the University and it is a state funded university, so in essence they work for the taxpayers.

Quitting the team because some fans aren't showing up is just about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. You don't play a sport for the fans. You do it for your teammates which is something this group of players has never learned.

Why don't all of you just let the athletic department handle football matters and--for a change--STFU about Jones? Christ, it has been nonstop railing about the guy for months. Yea, I imagine the players are tired of hearing you babies whining 24/7 about the coach.

You know nothing. No one failed me, my parents were killed in a car crash when I was seven, so try again. Let’s see, I am a retired Senior level officer with multiple combat tours and 100% disabled due to injuries sustained. Nope, I think I was raised very well. Those like myself just do not settle for subpar performance, which obviously yournok with.

My guess is he did not want to play another down for head coach who cannot coach his way out of a we paper bag and is being investigated for playing concussed student athletes.

Thank you for your service and not letting your circumstances dictate your outcome.

Spending your own money and choosing not to, staying home instead of going to games etc is one thing. Openly advocating for a mass boycott is another.

So lets ask this question, if you bought say a new product that was supposed to better than last year.

Then come to found out it's worse, a lot worse. Now you complain to the company and they just ignore you. So you give them a chance cause you see a glimmer of hope in a new system update or something.

Even after that's done, you start seeing those same problems again and again. So you complain again, this time you get silence. You continue to voice your opinion, still silence.

So now what do you do? You obviously can't do anything about the current product cause you've already bought it and they've got your money. But you can affect the next version of the product.

You let the company know you're going to boycott the product unless drastic changes are made. So that takes money away from them. That's the only way to get true change is to affect a companies bottom line.

So if empty neyland will affect the AD's bottom line, then either the AD will make the necessary changes or they stick with the status quo and lose money.

This is not directed at the players, again this is a shot directly at the coaches and the AD.

One of the most ridiculous statements ever made on VolNation.

Let's all disrespect our players so they will play harder for us.

Seriously?

People want to jump all over any player who's judged to have quit. Yet it's somehow ok to quit on these players?

The Empty Neyland crap is far more embarrassing than our record.

Yep, personally deciding to boycott games and not buy any new vol gear until we fire the HC is one thing. Campaigning for a mass boycott of the games is another.

We are being trolled. I would bet that many of the posters advocating emptyneyland have never attended a Vol game in their life.

Has anyone confirmed Tatum actually leaving the team?

If we lose Tatum we are in SERIOUS trouble on the OL next year. We will have only 8 scholarship lineman and that is assuming none of them are injured, which many of these 8 are currently out for repeat injuries.

The players and fans are always the victims in this sort of thing. Fans pay for the product that the players produce. The ones earning money off of said product are the ones to blame and anyone with half a brain know that. I say if you don’t want to go to the game because you’re fed up, don’t go. No need to start a movement to prove a point. Just looks tacky.

Im not saying its right or wrong. Im saying its stupid. You want to make a statement? Stay home. No need to whine about on Facebook like a girl that gpt stood up by her prom date. Just because you can, doesnt mean you should.
