March 5 Bracketology

A lot of talking heads were pulling UF out of the one spot this weekend.... I think you're boys will still be at 1 when the dust settles Sunday though.

I honestly think that all the #1 seeds are up in the air between Florida, UNC, OSU, Wisconsin, UCLA, and Kansas. Will depend on how the conference tournaments play out.

I did not watch the Kentucky game -- weather was too nice not to play some golf. But I caught Billy D's radio comments afterwards and he said that he felt that the team has been very tired, physically and mentally. He thinks that with there being a nice gap between now and the SEC tournament, and then another one between the SEC and the NCAA then they will have some time to re-charge and heal up a little.

Hope he's right.

As to you guys and a Davidson match-up, what's the inside dirt on Davidson. I don't know anything about them. I think UT-Maryland would be one of the better second round match-ups, if it came to pass.

And here is CBS/CNNSI for you: SI.com - Writers - The waiting game (cont.) - Monday March 5, 2007 10:19AM

They have you as a #4, with an interesting potential Winthrop or Marquette match-up in Round Two. They still have Florida as a 2-seed.
honestly, a four or a six will depend entirely on how the regional placement difficulties break down. Where they can make us fit will have more to do with the height of the seed than worthiness(relative to such a short distance, 4 to 6). I don't remember a team I followed ever drawing a predicted opponent.

See you in the semis...
Best two outta three for the season title???

With both teams having won convincingly at home, it would be interesting to see what happens on a neutral floor.

They've got Stephon Curry, Dell Curry's kid who was passed up by a lot of ACC schools. Right now he is the best freshman scorer in the country, a very good scorer in general.

They've scared some teams but haven't been able to pull off an upset, yet. They are always an incredibly balanced, fundamentally sound team. They can also get real hot from distance.

I say Tennessee needs at least 1 win in the SEC tournament to get a 4 seed. If Tennessee loses on Thursday night then they will be a 5.

Dang. Anybody but Winthrop. That team will be trouble, especially if they match up with us again.

When I see projections, I really don't care about who our opponent is. The only thing I look at is the seed, because any bracket right now is just one guy's opinion. And, he probably didn't take into account things like avoiding re-matches early in the tourney. Plus, things will change over the last week. So, don't fret over Winthrop or Davidson right now. What is important...I'll say it again...is that a 4-seed could mean games on Lofton's home court (Rupp).

i know this...Davidson doesn't suck and if we were to get to rd. two to play a MD team....that would be a great game....arguably the ACC's hottest team against the SEC's hottest team....tough 2nd round game imo.

all conjecture at this point.

as for seeding, at this point, i don't see us falling below a 5 maybe 6....all we can from this point is improve it.

obviously, we don't have to win the SEC tourney, but a trip to the champ game w/a win could get us to a 3 or 4 seed, if a few of the other conf. tourneys get screwy....

all i know for sure is this weekend's games are going to be ridiculously entertaining....

I hear if we win the SEC tourney we could be made a 2 seed? I heard that somewhere on ESPN but I can't remember where.....I'd like to get a piece of Winthrop to be honest with you....Payback from last year

the selection committee typically doesn't like rematches. i'd think a first round game against winthrop would be unlikely if they could avoid it.

I think that's probably a bit of a stretch, but it depends on what happens in other games, too. My feeling is that you could get as high as a #4, maybe even a #3 if literally everything broke your way. Most likely a 5 with one or two wins in the SEC tournament.

That's my feeling too.....I don't care what seed we are really, I'm just happy that we made the tourney again LOL....#3 would be great....4 is the likely though

Possibly.....We win 2 games in the SEC tourney or just make it to the finals we could end up with 4....Maybe 3....Guess we'll have to wait until Sunday to find out

If there were to be payback in a UT/Winthrop rematch, it would involve Winthrop hitting a last second, game winning shot.

I really don't see the powers that be putting us against the same first round opponent. I would be suprised.
