He will average 5-7 yards a carry in the proper offensive scheme. There will be more leaving if Jones doesn't change his scheme.
I don't particularly blame Hurd. He just does not fit in with this offensive scheme. Kamara and Kelly seem to work better. Hurd would have fit in well with our 90's offense
watch first quarter of Florida game again and get back to me
Once again, I totally believe Butch promised Hurd the I-Formation to keep him here. We did it in the bowl game and it worked, and Butch was clearly pissed that it worked.... Butch is a fraud. he can recruit, but he sure as hell can't develop talent.
Let me get this straight. You re 5 or 6 games away from being an NFL running back . . .
Don't like getting into these pi--ing matches, but Horse Sh--! What fact or otherwise do you base this statement on? Also, what makes you think Butch was "pissed" that the I worked?? Horse-Sh--!!
According to swain, and now Jimmy Hyams on twitter, Hurd is leaving. I am listening to this whole "promise" crap, I for one do not agree. Football is not a game of promise's, you go out and perform and if you aren't cutting it, then you sit your ass on the bench. I have supported Hurd as I do the rest of this football team, but plain and simple, Hurd was and is lacking this year, the kid has so much talent but is playing like a soft scared freshman. Do not give me that o line crap neither, because Kamara is running behind the same line and he carves it up.
Swain keeps saying "let's look at both sides", "let's be fair", NO!!!!! I have no idea what happened in that team meeting or what's been going on in the locker room but Hurd went downhill very quickly and is honestly not the best option, I don't care who that pains or who gets offended, it's the truth. This issue doesn't need to be a lingering one that kills the team, they need to move on and I hope they do.
Watch the Texas A&M game and get back to me.... Watch the SC game again on SEC Replay and get back to me... For your one little quarter of semi-accurate passing, I can show you full games, this year and last year, where our receivers had to fight to catch underthrown balls or balls thrown behind them where they had to twists to catch them.....
No. Tell us more
Hmmm, the running scheme we used to beat the #12 team in bowl game was never used this season even though we had the same offensive players returning.... It is not like we had new players to put in.... It was malpractice to not start the season with what worked to end the last season....

Failure on this staff part to mold system to his strengths.i dont balme him our run game is not as creative as last year. Staff is terrible.
Let me get this straight. You re 5 or 6 games away from being an NFL running back, the all-time leading rusher at the University of Tennessee, but now you want to play Tight end or wideout at another school where you will have to sit out for a year despite supposedly having a beat up body? Yeah I call bull**** on this. He may not be happy with his current situation, but this is an incredibly bad decision. I can't believe people close to him would allow this to take place at this particular point and time.
It's nice to see someone respond who understands football - congratulations. I honestly feel like we wouldn't be having these issues if we had a good passing threat.IMHO CBJ wants to run a certain type of offense. Many reference this as "RPO", or run, pass, option that requires a quick read. None of us can understand why Hurd was in line to be UT's all time leading rusher and suddenly, starting with Appy St. the offensive scheme is failing with Hurd as #1 back. Defensive coordinators are gap rushing and assigning LB's to fill certain gaps. There's no where to go when Hurd is in the backfield but wide. The gamble is to beat it on offense the ability to complete passes downfield of let's say 10-15 yds. which would force linebackers deeper. But.....DC's are playing zone type pass defenses and this is confusing Dobbs. All in all UT does have a potent offense and our opponents know it. Defenses are crashing our "mesh point" or trying to and this is the point of decision where Dobbs reads the position of the defensive end.....etc. At SC, Muschamp,an old defensive coordinator simply copied Pruett's,(Bama DC), game plan and UT hasn't adjusted or failed to adjust and Dobbs admitted it was one of his worst games. Hurd has been our bread and butter but teams evolve. We are now playing behind the chains all too often. Because CBJ apparently insists on this RPO offense it really does require specific types of players to obtain maximum efficiency. Next man to consider as a "no-fit" is likely to be Q.Dormandy. This is only my opinion and i think the worst part is CBJ isn't being truthful to certain players. I feel it's true that Hurd saw it coming and wanted to transfer.I'm gonna staunchly support Hurd for what he is or what he was working to be a pro-style power runner. Many on here allude to CBJ being stubborn and maybe that's the case but it appears to have a negative impact on the offense because they know they are being ask to run plays that every defense is prepared for and expecting. The problem is very noticeable but the solution requires time and practice at a very bad time. Good Luck Jalen and thanks for the diligent effort and example you set as a player at UT.
Hurd, assuming a clean physical and good combine, was going to get drafted. (Never as high as D4H would have had you believe but still) Unless he really did short out some circuits and simply need to be off this team I can't understand any reason to transfer at this point.
