To capsule what you are saying... Me, Me, Me all these younger folks (for most of them) think about...Whoever thinks Hurd should leave or is ok with him leaving is an idiot. This kid I followed a lot coming out of high school, helped put together the first great signing class in a long time, and played the first 2 season with fire and motivation. But as a player and watching how Butch Jones offense has evolved to what it is now,I wouldn't want to play here either. People forget why a kid will commit to a school,it's more than tradition,or conference,or pride. Winning and making your own legacy. Me yeah, loved Peyton Manning and Reggie White and all the other greats who come threw Tennessee, but you come to win and make your own legacy. Jalen must not feel like its happening. Butch is a fraud,we all have seen it. So I can see why he wants to leave. I'm sorry he feels this way and sorry for his teammates but it's his life not theirs or ours. I wish him the best and much success.
I don't care what meeting he had with his "friends/teammates". Don't care that he cried to them. He quit on them!!!!!!
This younger generation has a me, me, me first mentality.
With 4 games to go, you quit the team dude? Really?
Who does that?
I don't care what Butch promised you.....although I agree the coaches misused him grossly.
But the reality is that he quit on his teammates......
Ur opinion dont matter if you not pullin for success. Keep playin madden keyboard cowboy
IMHO CBJ wants to run a certain type of offense. Many reference this as "RPO", or run, pass, option that requires a quick read. None of us can understand why Hurd was in line to be UT's all time leading rusher and suddenly, starting with Appy St. the offensive scheme is failing with Hurd as #1 back. Defensive coordinators are gap rushing and assigning LB's to fill certain gaps. There's no where to go when Hurd is in the backfield but wide. The gamble is to beat it on offense the ability to complete passes downfield of let's say 10-15 yds. which would force linebackers deeper. But.....DC's are playing zone type pass defenses and this is confusing Dobbs. All in all UT does have a potent offense and our opponents know it. Defenses are crashing our "mesh point" or trying to and this is the point of decision where Dobbs reads the position of the defensive end.....etc. At SC, Muschamp,an old defensive coordinator simply copied Pruett's,(Bama DC), game plan and UT hasn't adjusted or failed to adjust and Dobbs admitted it was one of his worst games. Hurd has been our bread and butter but teams evolve. We are now playing behind the chains all too often. Because CBJ apparently insists on this RPO offense it really does require specific types of players to obtain maximum efficiency. Next man to consider as a "no-fit" is likely to be Q.Dormandy. This is only my opinion and i think the worst part is CBJ isn't being truthful to certain players. I feel it's true that Hurd saw it coming and wanted to transfer.I'm gonna staunchly support Hurd for what he is or what he was working to be a pro-style power runner. Many on here allude to CBJ being stubborn and maybe that's the case but it appears to have a negative impact on the offense because they know they are being ask to run plays that every defense is prepared for and expecting. The problem is very noticeable but the solution requires time and practice at a very bad time. Good Luck Jalen and thanks for the diligent effort and example you set as a player at UT.^ x 1000000000
I'm amazed at how much talent comes to UT and how little of it truly blossoms the way it should.
This 5* RB was never allowed to bloom in UT's system. Butch has a system which requires a RB whose height is between 5-6" and 5-11" - a "scat back" type player. This gem of a player who would probably be in the Heisman hunt at other SEC powers is apparently gone.
On you coach....
Then it comes down to coaching and calling certain plays that he CAN do where he doesn't have to read defenses....PLAYCALLING is big, just look at Bobby Petrino calling plays for Lamar Jackson as Jackson said himself he has never he called plays even in high school as the coaches told him to just make plays, but Petrino knows what he does best and then schemes his system to fit Jackson
