Many people reporting Hurd is now gone (Merged)

All offseason I remember some practice reports coming out saying we were working on some i form stuff with Gavin Bryant or Jakob Johnson at full back. Also a couple of times in the app state game we came out under center and motioned wolf into the backfield, so they used it in one game then completely refused to go back to it.

We also lined up in the I for a play Saturday before SC jumped offsides. After the penalty, we changed the alignment.

Jalen's worked his tail off since he's been here, and it's time for him to move on. He's hurt, been hurt, playing hurt (even had an MRI today), and it's just time to go.

Butch made many promises to Jalen including running more of an I-formation (remember what they did in the entire Outback Bowl last year) to convince him to stay, and then Butch never ran it one time this year. Jalen knew he didn't fit this system, and wanted to go find a better fit last year, but he believed what the staff said to him so he stayed.

He's taken a beating, and wants to have a long career in the NFL one day. He will no longer play RB and is considering a change to WR/TE. He is not going to the NFL right now nor does he want to. He's going to go to another offense and develop at the position first.

He spent time with about 20 of his closest teammates tonight at the team meeting and told them what he had decided. Most knew anyway. Pretty sure he broke down as this has been hard on him.

Most Vol fans will never know the pain that he has played through and endured the past 2 years because most only care about W's, but in the end, I hope a few do actually remember his contributions while he was here...

Only reason I came on here is because I am sick of seeing Hurd get thrown under the bus but "fans."

He is not perfect but he has given everything on the field.

In a better scheme where he was given a few steps to gain momentum he breaks the records easily and many games ago.

He has also never once bad mouthed UT in public or to anyone I know.

He has been about as professional as a kid his age could be and kept everything very close to the vest.

I am just sick of seeing him become the scape goat.

First I met him/ introduced to him, I thanked him for committing to TN and told him it will be players like him that bring us back.

He responded "Thank you sir. That is what I am hoping to do."

His family is a class act. They are good people.

Find another scape goat. Kid gave his all.

Just curious but if jalen wants to go develop at another position why did he not consider switching positions here. He has show. He has good hands and I for one would to have loved seeing him at tight end

So Hurd nearly sets the UT rushing record then decides he's not only going to skip going to the NFL, but he's going to transfer, and he's going to move to WR/TE despite being a dominant RB at both the HS and FBS level?

I already have...

I posted this about a month ago and Deerpark tagged my post and said everything I just posted was 100% correct.

Pull Deerpark's past post....Freak can do it.

So I should just trust you and Deerparks opinions? No thanks. No offense but I think its all BS.

I'm sure there is way more to the story than we know. If any of our staff thought we could line up in the I and cram it down teams throats with Hurd, why wouldn't they do it?? There are no hidden agendas in college football scheme.. If they thought that would give us the best chance to win, they'd do it. Millions of dollars are at stake.

Totally agree. The I formation is very different than what Tennessee runs. You have to balance what is good for the entire team, not just one player.

I watched it and recorded it, but deleted the recording today. I like to go back and re-watch the games, but I couldn't do it this time.

Screw Jones!!!

Threw him under the bus.

Tried to make Jalen the scape goat.

Thank you for letting everyone know he was lied to.

Maybe that is because it did not work well.

74 I wanted him to crush the record for rushing here. Hate he isn't going to get there. Wish him the best.

Sad isn't it. That's how much he hates running the ball now. He's real hurt folks - like spinal injury hurt.

UT is running a modern offense.. It's what football is coming to. Even Bama is running it. If jalen isn't a RB in today's game, it's not anybody's fault.

And he took a cheap shot that I feel like was targeting on a defenseless player at South Carolina on one play that I was floored that it wasn't called
