Mannings mooning incident on ESPN.

It's curious that in cases where it's one student's word against another's, the school should be in the business of providing one of the students top-flight legal services, presumably for free. If A.J. Johnson had accused a girl of theft, would the school hire Don Bosch for her?

Theft is not a politically correct crime if a girl does it. Accusation of rape is. You need to turn in your PC card if you don't understand this.

The school doesn't provide legal services. They just allow the student athletes to obtain them. Oh, the humanity!

I haven't read anything recently that I would consider new material. All of this has been brought up and there's been at least 2 settlements on Manning's part and the track guy's 'come on man' statement. All of that was written about and discussed at length years ago. The vulgar mouthed victim has settled twice out of court. Can she sue Shaun King for dragging her name back into this? Or does she need more funds?

Shaun King by the way has been called out by Jason Whitlock as being a 'twitter race hustler' with questionable credentials in regards to his own race and circumstances regarding several issues in his life that he offered up as 'factual' that may have been paler shades of the truth.

All of this smells like yellow journalism and fast money.

No, and UT didn't hire Don Bosch for A.J. Johnson, either. Don Bosch is on record that UT neither retained him nor paid him for providing legal services to UT student-athletes in sexual assault cases.

Keyword, "apparently"....however, "apparently" according to whom? The details of her story changed in between the time of the original story and her plaintiff's complaint a few years later when she filed for defamation. Fact is, none of us knows for sure what happened.

You couldn't be more right KB. In her original story, she heard laughter, looked up and "saw" his backside. She pushed him and called him an ass. She declined to press charges or pursue the matter any further. An eye-witness said the "mooning" was not directed at her, so it was determined there was no harassment. Manning was disciplined and ordered to apologize for the "misunderstanding." Case closed.

I don't get how that story developed to the one being presented now.

That should be pretty easy to figure out, shouldn't it? Bosch's name should be listed somewhere in a court doc if he was involved.

How many athletes do you think could afford Don Bosch out of their own pockets?

Is this one of those cases where lawyer says ill collect off what we earn from this as he knows this is going to be a huge payday. Therefore ok with not getting uprfont money. I know very little about attorney's eccept using one to handle a small accident claim where a girl plowed into the back of my truck at 60+ mph on interstate in 2013.

Of course UT wouldn't formally "hire" him.

It depends on the charge and circumstances of the case and how much time he anticipates having to spend working the case but Don Bosch is not as expensive as some people here seem to think. He defended a friend of mine in 2008 for a first offense DUI (and won the case because the arresting officer was fired before her first court appearance) and only charged her $5K plus $1500 to hire a private investigator.

Maybe Bosch is passionate about his alma mater and represents these young men out of the goodness of his heart. Maybe he receives funds from other alum. I don't care. I'm glad they are afforded the right to be represented by good legal counsel. Counsel that is not paid for by the University.

Bosch has represented athletes, but UT has not retained him to do so. Athletes can hire their own counsel without school involvement.

Since UT and the athletes in question were the ones being sued there is no huge payday. The scenario you're describing happens on the plaintiff's side.

Ok I misunderstood. I thought someone said the Girls got this mr Bosch representing them. I didn't see it was for the Players. Thanks for clarification.

Peyton was never charged with anything right. So double jeopardy is out of play. But how does this get brought back up after it has been settled twice AND at what point can/does it become a defamation against Peyton? Not saying what he did was right and his decision defamed himself, but the repetition of this incident after it has been settled seems like it crosses some type of legal line, no?

Legal stuff isn't always easy to follow....especially with a story with this many twists and turns.
