Manning Reaction

Dirty Sanchez is the main reason the J-E-T-S are in the title game, not their number one defense and number one running game. It was his 12-20 TD-INT ratio that 'lead' them there.

I am so glad no one here remembers Peyton's rookie numbers. They were awesome...so I'm told.

Manning is very smart. He is well respected. It would be in his best Intrest to keep his mouth shut especially If he disagrees what kiffin did to his school. He really didnt say much when kiffin was hired either. I do believe he supported him in a statement bc he had to. If manning said no that he didnt support him then that would put a huge strain on kiffin or any other coach that was at UT. Do ya think manning would really come out and bash kiffin? No!!! Remember manning is the face of the NFL and the poster Child of UT football. We may never really know what manning thinks. Manning will keep quiet and continue to show loyalty to the program by talking to the players especially the QB's and continue to donate a million dollars to the athletics program. Peyton has no intrest in giving an opinion to the media that would possibly hurt his university he loves and cares for.

Those are good points.

As soon as Sanchez wins his 4th NFL MVP we'll pay more attention to your observations on how he is as good as Manning.

TIFWIW...I have a friend who is very close with Peyton (will not reveal the name in respect to him). And even though he was busy preparing this past week, he was VERY involved with the head coaching search, as was his Dad Archie. Since Peyton was busy preparing, Archie was the mouthpiece and had a GREAT deal of say in the coaching search. As you can imagine, both Peyton and Archie were pushing David Cutcliffe for HC as well as Fulmer for AD. The reason Hamilton did not go with Cutcliffe is because he wanted to start fresh and hire his own coaching staff. He didn't want to keep any of the current coaches on the staff.

Personally, I would love to hear Manning's comments, and I think eventually we will. Don't forget, Manning is not afraid to comment when something really gets under his skin and is personal. I believe the way X and O left the program in the middle of the night while making phone calls to TN recruits made it personal to everyone in the Vol family, including Manning. I could see him having some strong statements regarding X after the season if the opportunity presented itself.

"Here we are. I'm out at my third Pro Bowl, I'm about to go in and throw a touchdown to Jerry Rice, we're honoring the Hall of Fame, and we're talking about our idiot kicker who got liquored up and ran his mouth off. The sad thing is, he's a good kicker. He's a good kicker. But he's an idiot."

-Peyton Manning

That was the last time we ever herd manning say something that brash. He wont do it again either. its unprofessional. The media found away to bash him a little for calling out his kicker. But yeah the kicker is an idiot! Peyton realizes now that he didnt have to say anything now about his kicker bc in reality the media would have done it for him.

I read an article (I believe it was by Chris Low) that said Hamilton had confirmed to Peyton that Cutcliffe was going to be our next head coach. The article ended saying that Hamilton probably shouldn't expect a Christmas card from the Manning family this year.

You could put Sanchez, Leinart and Palmer's numbers combined against Manning's and they wouldn't be anything close. Have some class and respect the greatness.

Consider the source.....Chris Low.

Nate Kaeding had more to do with the Jets winning than Sanchez did. Comparing MS to PM is laughable. Hope your boy is ready for a clinic.

Funny, I could have sworn it was Sanchez who threw the game winning TD while under duress.

No one is comparing Sanchez to PM's NFL career...just their rookie season.

You obviously did not hear him call out Joe Buck on a Sunday Night Football interview earlier this year for Joe's comments regarding Eli.

the truth to stop the Manning/Sanchez argument is this...The Jets have a much better team than the Colts did in 98. Sanchez has done a good job obviously as a NFL RC and has a bright future. Manning however will go down as maybe the best QB ever to play in the NFL.

Maybe the best ever?

If he wins the Super Bowl this year he will go down as the best ever for sure.

Fair enough, but I disagree that it would be unprofessional or be considered unprofessional if he made a comment on how X and O treated UT. Just my opinion though.

If it wasn't for the Colts resting there starters the last two reg season games, the Jets wouldn't even be in the playoffs.

And if my aunt had a third leg...well, you know the ending.

Bottom line, as a rookie, he is leading the team to the AFC CG. That's impressive no matter how you spin it.

I agree, there's is definitely no maybe about this. When talking about the best quarterback ever, Peyton Manning and Brady (really only by Patriots fans) get brought up. In my mind there is no contest that Manning is the better of the 2. I don't know if anyone caught the poll they did with Hall of Fame quarterbacks on who was the better player. Manning kicked Brady's bootay. 13.5 said he was better to Brady's measily 2.5.

And talking about Sanchez's rookie season, he's gotten better and better as the season has gone on, but he will never be the caliber of Manning. And I hope Peyton gives him and the rest of the Jets a serious beatdown on the field this sunday! But it's not Sanchez that Im most worried about, it's Revis. Go Colts!

If this is true then it just goes to show how smart he is! Tn needs new younger blood. The old guys cant coach anymore!! Cutcliff was only good at developing QB's. Thats it!!! We dodged a bulliet by him staying put.

dude ..what ? What about receivers ? O linemen ? Running backs ?

05-06 ...when the resurrected the old guy ...it wasn't just Ainge that did a 360. It was Meechum , the entire O line went from being a no talent bunch of fat guys to a bunch of chisled studs that gave up less sacks than just about any in the nation. Foster became a 1000 back . When he left ...it all fell apart and they all just didn't have talent anymore.

Doesn't matter if they hired him ...get your facts straight.
