But in the middle of a 5-7 season in 2008, he was informed his tenure would not continue.

Why would I remotely give a damn that the Indianapolis Colts won a Super Bowl?

Then why call him captain stats?

If it's about college he still won an SECC.

I don't get what the problem is. If it's the way all the reds in the area act about him, I get that.

Andy Kelly won two. Tee Martin won one and tacked a National Title on it. I don't see the orange overall crowd breathlessly waiting for them to comment on Lane Kiffin.

Like I said, I get it if it's about the way the reds around here treat.

But you do think the Colts should make decisions about the direction of their offense without talking with Manning?
If they want to, yes. Manning acts like its his God given right to influence decisions he is obviously awful at making. If the Colts have checked the track record of his "advice" in Knoxville, they'll take his input and do the exact opposite.

Also I would argue the play of Kelly's receivers elevated his play and the same for Martin, while Peyton elevated the play of his receivers, Kent and Nash specifically.

I've said it many times, I can take or leave Manning. Don't really care if he wins the MVP or goes into seclusion. Most of my disdain is directed at the clowns who still show up at Neyland in faded #16 jerseys and act as if, despite the fact he's proven to be utterly clueless on such matters, Manning's comments on UT's coaching situations are akin to Moses' speech on the mount.

That goes against what most sports franchises do then. I've never heard Kobe, Farve, Jordan etc. question management on decisions they didn't consult with them about...

Almost every superstar does it, it's not like Manning is some outlier on this topic.

Manning is media savvy unlike Kiffin and manning knows to keep his personal feelings to himself in public and you had better believe he is a Fulmer guy wonder what would have happened if Tennessee had fired Phil and hired Cutcliff? wow talk about a weird situation then

I totally get that. I do think I would view Manning differently if I was older when he was here. I was 12-15 when he played so in my eyes he could do no wrong.

It seems the older I get (27), that feeling about a player(s) isn't the same.

Jordan tried to get Jerry Krause to pick up Walter Davis and various other washed up or never were Carolina products. He tried to block the Charles Oakley for Bill Cartwright trade. Ignoring MJ was one of the keys to Jerry Krause's building the Bulls dynasty.

I remember some of that, but my point is you are calling out Manning about this like it's not common place. I didn't say they were right or wrong but that it is normal for superstars to try and influence the direction of the franchise.

I believe Kobe was pissed for LA not including Bynum in a trade for Kidd I believe and other than injury problems for Bynum that was a smart.

Was that a straight up trade with the Knicks or were other players included? I was super young when that happened.

There might have been some salary cap filler, but they were the only players of any substance in the deal.

Mike had the same problem in the Charlotte front office.

Peyton is a loyal guy, and he's showing respect to his coach. Nothing wrong with that.

Hat so reminds me of a guy I grew up with who hated everyone that had great success because he could never experience relative success, himself.

If there is no Michael Jordan, then about 100 people know who Jerry Krause is. Kinda like, if not for volnation.com, about 10 people would hear what hat has to say. (Being around him in person must be such a joy.)

You remind me of the typical, sycophantic douches who walk around in their faded orange #16 jerseys crying about the Great Heisman Robbery of '97. It's Conjur A Memory Day here at VN.
