It was. If this article had just stated the facts and not put any of Griff's bias in it, it would've been a great read. Isn't that what you're supposed to do anyways Griff?
He has never done that. Every single article takes a shot at Monte Kiffin and how we were better defensively last year because of Chavis. It is unbelievably obvious how biased Griff is. This is probably why he's not allowed to write "real" football articles like EVERY other sportswriter for the KNS. That's more than a little telling, imo.
Which should tell you how bad he actually is considering the other trash that write for the KNS.
Three picks in five games isn't cutting it -- be real.
Ignoring the facts does not make them go away.
The UT offense is not good -- but the defense hasn't been much help in the turnover dept.
I was shocked Saturday night, because the Vols' defensive plan for Florida was brilliant
was masterful against Florida.
No so much against Norm Chow and Gus Malzahn.
Chow had been in the UCLA system for a year, though, and knew his personnel.
I'm shocked Malzahn got the better end of the battle Saturday night.
I don't think that will be the case against Georgia....
I predicted UT would win two games in October, and I still think that...South Carolina, upon further review, is not so scary.
Some of you guys are clueless. We got schooled Saturday. Plain and simple. Both sides of the ball and special teams for that matter. A spade is a spade. Rico McCoy said it best, the D has got to get off the field for themselves. Everyone wants to gripe about the O going 3 and out all the time and not letting the D rest. Have you ever thought that maybe the D could force a 3 and out and go rest?? You people need to get real!

I agree totally - guess those details didn't fit the narrative. All kidding aside, I'm not usually one to bash Griff on here, but to not admit that this isn't the same D that played the Gators tough (due to injuries etc), and also not mention that it wasn't exactly a ball control offense Sat. night is just not being truthful.
Auburn has a first-year staff and roughly the same amount of talent....
Auburn didn't use hardly any motion or shifts -- that's where Reveiz would have been missed most.
The Tigers were missing a starting offensive guard and playing on the road for the first time this season...
Call it like it is: UT got beat on the field and on the sideline Saturday night.
That's just the truth.
Saturday could be different. I don't think Monte will fold up and quit coaching.
The most impressive thing about Auburn's performance, to me, was the fact that they were able to put together such a complex and diverse offense in Gus' first year and run it well. They formation you to death, give unorthodox look after unorthodox look, and sprinkle in enough misdirection and trick plays to have the defense guessing on every play, and they did it without turning it over or penalizing themselves into bad situations. That's a bit amazing, considering where they were last year.
Just because it worked doesn't mean UT was "outschemed," however, regardless of the payroll of our assistant coaches. The Vol offense and special teams put the defense in horrible positions several times, both in field position and time of posession. Overall, I'd give the defense a grade of "OK," which isn't that bad considering the youth, injuries, and talent level we have on that side of the ball.
There is only so much coaching can do.

In the spring I commented that the LBs were having a hard time getting off of blocks. The first team did pretty well in this regard. Now that we are down to King and Frazier it is rearing its head again. It is a combination of experience and speed issues. They should improve as the year goes on.
