The message was sent Sunday loud and clear, no need for our fans to turn into a bunch of leftist occupy Wall Street protesters.

Our voices have been plenty heard. Now let them do their jobs. Is 48 hours of being lambasted on national sports talk not enough??? We did the right thing, now let them operate. The more we "keep up the pressure" in national media, our job becomes less desirable than it already is. Clear that Davenport not moving on Currie, so maybe "outside influencers" are cleared away to make more logical decisions...at least, one would hope.

I just called and talked to David Golden's Executive Secretary, she was extremely receptive to my call and asked a number of questions. She said that they have had many, many calls and that all calls are welcome as long as they are civil in nature... and they do want the fans to vent and let the UT President know their feelings about John Currie and the current state of affairs regarding the search for a head coach. I shared with her my concerns about:

1) John Currie's apparent incompetence as Athletic Director and why many fans believe this to be so
2) The lack of proper vetting in the attempted hiring of Greg Schiano
3) The deceptions by John Currie and Beverly Davenport in the attempted hiring of Greg Schiano which led to the protests
4) Since UT football revenue is #2 in the nation, why are we looking for a coach at $3.6 million when Florida is paying Mullen $6 million and UCLA is paying Kelly 5 million? Doesn't UT football deserve a good coach too? So, if John Currie is a good Athletic Director, why is he going to CoachMart's clearance rack for UT's new football coach???
5) UT players and fans deserve an experienced P5 head coach with proven success both on and off the field - no skeletons in the suitcase
6) Since Kiffin left in 2009, our athletic directors have given us joke hires that have made the VOLS the laughingstock of college football: Derek "Deer-in-the-Headlights" Dooley, and Lyle "Botch the Play Calling" Jones. Perhaps good guys, but terrible coaches... and UT deserves the best our # 2 revenue can buy! (she laughed, and agreed)
7) The UTAD is as much a dumpster fire as the football program. The players and coaches have lost confidence in him as a leader and he has lost what little credibility he had Sunday afternoon.
8) John Currie has lost the fan base. He does not listen to or care about the fans. He only cares about or listens to the several big money boosters, and that is the root of the problem in UT Sports today, and has been since the late 90's. The UT President, Chancellor, and Athletic Director need to be reminded that it is not the big money guys who fill Neyland on Saturdays, buy the concessions and UT merchandise... making UT football revenue # 2 in the land - it is the fan base! And John Currie has lost us a long time ago.
9) Therefore, I sincerely recommend that he immediately be fired and replaced by Fulmer or Blackburn, and let these gentlemen and Manning take over the search for a head coach for our football team.

She thanked me, asked again for my name and phone, and assured me that the administration would be getting her notes with my contact information. I asked if they are doing this with all the calls they are getting, and she confirmed that they are. After a few pleasantries and talking about some UT memories and how much we love the school, we said our goodbyes.

Give a call... they won't bite... and it might help get us a real AD who loves UT like we do.
