You're leaving out the most important numbers in that comparison, SEC titles. Majors-2. Haystacks-0.

You're leaving out the most important comparison. CPF hasn't pissed off his boss by publicly calling out the university in public forums and then had a heart attack.

Now YOU'RE missing the most important part of the thread. It's that this place will self-destruct in 5... 4... 3... 2...

You'll get no argument from me there. It's just always funny to me when people initmate that Majors was run out of town because of his record.

I'm with GAVol on this one. It's that the UTK athletics department's treatment of the head football coaching position doesn't seem to be based so much on performance as it does stability, and university and public relations. Almost seems to be more of a political thing, if you will.

True. If one wants to find a situation comparable to that which led to the dismissal of Majors, my pal Huggins is probably as good as any to use. In both cases, it was about a perceived lack of respect and personality clashes, not wins and losses.

Agreed, I just thought it's important to look at the body of work, and not select years, that make a point

That is wrong they both have one nc remember majors left a defending nc to coach a mediocre ut team they both love the BIG ORANGE just like we do.

A very good comparison . . . There were definitely people who wanted both of them gone, and both of them helped create a window of opportunity for their own demise.
