Tennessee used to have Kevin Steele as associate head coach and chief recruiter. He brought in the players in the Chuck Webb era. He came from Nebraska and was hired by John Majors. Fulmer allowed him go to Georgia over money or "greed". He is now the defensive coordinator and associate head coach at Alabama. A call to coach majors for insight what to do would be an intelligent move. Jon Gruden and Lovie Smith worked at Tennessee for coach Majors before they went to the NFL. Majors never ran good coaches off, the NFL hired them away. History shows Fulmer hasn't hired anyone that is appealing to anyone. Hamilton, invest a call to Majors. He knows what time it is.

Majors would probably be willing to help again now that Fulmer is gone.

Can't say I have thought of that one. Excellent insight! I hope you're right. I know I was kind of surprised he moved back to Knoxville.... :good!:

At least, unlike the soon to be deposed dolt in the head coach's office, his world doesn't revolve around what time his wife tells him he can go to Great American Buffet.

Rodney Garner, Trooper Taylor, Woody McCorvey, Kevin Ramsey, Randy Sanders, David Cutcliffe, Mike Barry, and Doug Marrone all have found work at BCS conference football teams or the NFL after coaching with Phil Fulmer at Tennessee.

I must have missed it. Were we even talking about Fulmer? You seem to be infatuated with him... There could be a thread about rain drops and you would add a comment about Fulmer.

But see he ran them off. Coaches who left under Majors were "hired away". Coaches who left under Fulmer were "Ran off".

Give it a break guys. The man is leaving. The right thing was done and he is being replaced.

Not infatuated at all. Just making sure liars, apologists, and revisionist historians aren't allowed to prop him up. I'm taking it upon myself to convince at least one young fan a week that Fulmer is evil incarnate. Hopefully, that will catch on and he can be exiled roughly as long as Majors was gone. I might be able to stomach the site of he and his family after 16 or so years.

Then you're going to be real unhappy when the first thing the new coach does is welcome him back with open arms. Bad for you. In fact, you should just follow Fulmer to whatever jerkwater program he's able to fool into hiring him.

No, Fulmer should stay far away too. I would prefer to get away from the past all together and move in a new direction. Why would a new coach welcome Majors back with open arms unless it's Lovie Smith? What did Majors ever do that was so great(as a coach)?

Apparently enough to warrant Jon Gruden having him introduce him at the dinner where he accepted his first AFC Coach of the Year award. Among other things, helping Jimmy Johnson, Barry Switzer, Larry Lacewell, Dom Capers, Jackie Sherrill, Al Saunders, Jim Bates, Walt Harris, Joe Avezzano, and about 100 other guys cut their teeth in coaching. He led Iowa State and Pitt to unprecedented success. He rebuilt Tennessee out of the sewer Battle left the program in. He won more SEC titles than his successor. Need more?

I want him back, if for no other reason, as yet another indignity to be heaped upon the departing coach. Hamilton should let Majors be the one to throw Fulmer's junk out of his office into the street.
