The Kiffin thread made me wonder if Fulmer and Majors have ever buried the hatchet? Two Tennessee legends and Vols to the core. I hope so at some point, but can’t recall seeing anything about it.

Thanks!

Now.........go Vols and beat Kentucky!!!!!

I don’t know but if they haven’t it’s on Majors.

I wonder if Coach Majors still blames Coach Fulmer.

Same goes for Vol fans.

I seriously doubt it. Kiffin’s post while tagging Fulmer pretty much solidified that he was trolling him

What is this Majors vs Fulmer thing about? I’ve not seen it discussed before.
Phil was Johnny's OC before he became head coach. Johnny had to have surgery and missed a few games his last year. Phil won several games in his abscence. It seems he also campaigned to AD Battle to keep the job while Majors was gone as well. Johnny came back to fast and lost a couple games he should have won. Johnny got fired and replaced by Phil. Johnny blames Phil for his firing and feels Phil stabbed him in the back.

Most importantly, the plan was for Majors to be out longer. He saw how well the team was doing and Fulmer was getting the credit. He showed on Monday and declared himself back without even contacting his boss, AD Dickey. He threw the team into disarray and they lost when they should not have - all because he let his ego take control.

He didn't handle it well for sure. It does seem Phil was campaigning for the job though. I both agree with the decision to fire Majors and understand why he is pissed. They are both Vol greats as far as I'm concerned.

Majors hired lots of assistants because he fired lots of assistants. Maybe that was why Fulmer seemed overly loyal during his tenure. Fulmer won against Florida and Georgia as underdogs and Tennessee was unexpected conference leaders. Fulmer certainly would have been offered an HC job after that. So Tennessee can keep a coach unable to go to next level and lose an excellent OC or hire that OC as coach. Plus, Majors didn't do himself favors with his drinking and arrogance.
