General obervations:

Some of the agressive catches are ridiculous, but make it kinda fun in a way

lots of holding penalties

Seems like the WRs are smart now when the qb scrambles. In 15 the wrs would run their routes and just stand there, but now they actually keep running up the field.

Lots of broken tackles

it has its flaws but its pretty fun...

Agreed, also I really like the steps they made in the receivers/db's interactions.

I'm 5 games into my career as a QB, & while it has been fun, it's also been frustrating.

Unless my WRs are open by 10yds, they drop the ball every time with the slightest of contact.

I've also not seen DBs like this ever before. They pick off anything near them with ease. Today, I threw a 40yd pass down the sideline and my WR "caught" it, the CB knocked it out, both players fell to the ground, the ball flew up and then down onto my WR belly and the SS casually walked over and picked it up. INT!!!

When is EA's contract up on the NFL licensing?? There needs to be a massive twitter campaign to prevent a renewal. Life's too short to accept sub par football games.

I think they signed it in 2005 for 15 years. So I believe 2020.

There's zero chances anyone but EA will make an NFL game so long as both are in business

Yes, but exclusive licensing gives the consumer one option. Which gives EA no incentive to make a better game. Which is why they usually don't.
Probably should research what the antitrust laws say.........hint hint, EA nor the NFL are breaking any.

I'm probably going to pick this up tonight. I never have too high of hopes for sports games. I just like playing with friends

Picked it up. It's notably better than last year; which comes as a surprise. The changes made to wr/db interaction actually work to bring a certain amount of balance to each contested ball. Defending passes no longer feels like a futile exercise.

Gang tackling looks decent but unpolished; I guess we'll take what we can get here. The audio for hits is screwed up, often producing silent collisions of multiple players.

Blocking has taken a step forward as well but still has a way to go to simulate real football. The improvements afford having an actual run game present; hell you can even run successful sweeps and pitches sometimes!
