So the new Madden has been revealed. Meet the new game, same as the old game.

Saw this gem yesterday:

Madden NFL 22: 10 Major Improvements As EA Reveals This Year's Release - IGN

Fast-forward to 2021, and EA is now more fully settled in to the PS5 and Xbox Series X, allowing the team to begin weaving some more ambitious changes into Madden 22. Key among them is homefield advantage, a feature that has been neglected in past years. While Madden has typically been able to capture the look and feel of a stadium like Seattle's Lumen Field, where ear-shattering crowd noise makes it impossible for a quarterback to even hear themselves think, none of that has translated into actual gameplay. All that will finally change in Madden 22. Now, away teams forced to play in notoriously difficult stadiums like Lumen Field will see their playart wave dangerously, with some of their receiver buttons hidden.

Literally a feature that was in NCAA 09, if not earlier. With the power of next Gen consoles, we can finally add features that were on the PS2. Smh. I don't think they are ever going to make this game good again.

I saw they're adding stat tracking this year, similar to what MLB The Show does, I assume. Seems like a cool feature.

First year in a long time I won't be buying. Bought 21 and probably have 3 or 4 hours playing time. It just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Im a pretty big madden head, I usually buy the game every year. This year is no different, this game has potential imo but has some very serious flaws. The first being zone coverage is absolutely horrific. Deep blues just get roasted by seam streaks because their first step is always in, Match coverage rules not playing correctly, flats not playing the flats, honestly there isnt one zone in the game that works correctly. Online pretty much every game I play is a 45-42 shootout. Stamina is awful in this game as well, one of my receivers went into half at yellow, came out of half at yellow, was tired so he fumbled then after getting rocked turned blue and was good for the rest of the game. There are a few other things, but those are my two major issues with the game.

I haven't bought Madden in years. I thought I would after EA stopped making NCAA Football but I just never could bring myself to spending 60.00 on a game that just gets incremental changes year in and year out. I am ecstatic that NCAA is coming back and will be there day one for that!

I'm a franchise Madden player, so the target audience that EA gives 1% of their attention to. It just amazes me year after year how significantly better The Show and 2K create a Franchise mode. Madden Franchise was deeper in 2008 than it is now. But when you're a football addict, it's all you have.

Saw a video on YT, they couldn't even figure out a way to get Mahomes' actual contract into the game. The guy on the cover, of a supposed simulation game, the ONLY NFL football game available, and they can't even get his contract right in the game. Not because they are just lazy and missed it, but because they can't figure out how to do it. Contracts have been capped at 7 years for as long as I remember. Why?

They seriously just need to scrap this entire game and start over. With a brand new dev team. This game is getting absolutely shredded in the community. Its embarrassing.

I'm an Xbox guy so this year was my first time playing MLB the show. Playing that game helped me realize how terrible Madden really is.

It's also proof that just because an IP is annualized doesn't mean it has to be mediocre.

It’s no different than committing countless hours to NCAA football
Ncaa 14 is sooooo much better than the new maddens. It actually has physics based gameplay, you can customize conferences, and you can actually somewhat run fade routes. APF 2k8 has the best football gameplay in any game that has ever existed. It’s a 14 year old game!! The best part about that game is when you throw off your drop step, your quarterback is the most accurate. It makes timing actually matter. I wish madden would put that in the game, I’d actually buy it just for that one feature. A 14 year old game shouldn’t have better gameplay than madden 22, I don’t care what anyone says.

Madden will never be perfect. After all your only paying for better graphics. You can update rosters anytime. I believe mlb the show does it every time I play I’m not 100% positive tho

Madden doesn't update rosters once a new game comes out. So the only way to play with new rookies is create them, download someone else's created draft class, or buy the new game.

Madden is a joke. They bring features into the game that madden had in the early 2000s and call them new features. Gaming monopoly 100% and they won’t put any effort into fixing their game until people stop buying it.

I actually like '22.
Why? Serious question. I haven’t bought it since ‘15 and Youtubers like Ryan Moody and SOFTDRINKTV always dissuade me from trying it again year after year. I’ve really heard nothing positive, even playstation gave it a 3/10..

It's better than '21 (which I sold about 3 days after having it), and the only football option
