Just wondering...

How come Peyton Manning aka Face of NFL, 2x NFL MVP, and Defending Superbowl MVP, has never been on the cover?

Does he not wanna be on it?
not sure but it might have something to do with his deal with xbox for NFL Fever back in the day. just a thought.

The only white guy I can recall being on the cover is, John Madden.

When you're talking about players, no there never has been one.

2001: Eddie George
2002: Daunte Culpepper
2003: Marshall Faulk
2004: Michael Vick
2005: Ray Lewis
2006: Donovan McNabb
2007: Shaun Alexander
2008: Vince Young

If I'm not mistaken, that is the Cover list since 2001, and all the covers before then, had Madden on the cover.

What about Tom Brady?

He could have been on the cover a few years ago when he was winning all of the Superbowls, but they would always choose someone else.

BTW, this Vid cracks me up...

Brady

Cover curse, anybody? The Madden cover is the one thing I've seen make people who don't normaly believe in curses change their minds. Nine straight years seems beyond the realm of coincidence.

Just hours after we posted our story on San Diego Chargers fans desperate to keep their running back free of the long running "Madden Curse" comes word that the cover athlete for Madden NFL 08 has been revealed.
Althought not officially confirmed, Nashville's The City Paper is reporting that Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young will be the featured player for EA's next NFL title.
Well, Vince had a good run. Congrats, Mr. Young, and I wish you a speedy recovery! Michael McWhertor

Nine straight years? I don't think I'd say Ray Lewis had an especially bad year. Granted he broke his wrist (I think) the last game of the season, but he led the team in tackles and had some other career highs at the time.

Still, it's interesting how the cover plays out. And everyone just expects it now.

Ray Lewis hasn't been the same beast since he landed the cover, although he is slowly coming back to his own.

Ray Lewis' stats were down that year. That was also the only season of his career that he didn't have a single interception.
