I think it had some effect. A hint of some kind of violation I'm sure helped turn him away.

Oku & Bryce brown are sophomores or would have been. How would that not have any affect? Other than that I know all the kids from Byrnes & played there myself & graduated from there. Even though he was probably a USCjr lock Tennessee was at least in consideration until those guys committed & the hostess deal.
