Bunch of craziness on this thread.

Nick Reveiz was NOT a great player and we all know it. He was decent but could not have sniffed the field in the 90's.

If we had a recruiting class full of 1-stars everyone on this board would be howling. We would have to drop down to the Sunbelt and compete against Western Kentucky University. Of course stars are indicative. A 4-star player will not always be better than a 3-star player. But a class of 4-stars is ALWAYS better than a class of 3-stars.

Texas, Florida, and USC this year are proof of that.
In other words, if the players don't fit each other, the system, and the coach, this is not always true. A TEAM of 3 stars many times turn out better than a group of 4 stars.

Who cares?

We fans should really stop obsessing over this sham star system.

How many five-star players are on Oregon's roster? How many four-star on TCU's or Stanford's?

Get guys who truly value the opportunity to carry on the great Tennessee football tradition, and we will win.

I hope Marcus Jackson is one of those guys. I'm pretty sure Devrin Young is. I hope that there are more.

Stars mean very little after evaluating, recruiting, and getting a commitment. It's kind of like reading consumer ratings about an item you've already bought. He was recruited based on coaches' evaluations not the number of stars assigned to his name.

a couple of noteable 5 stars from 2008

Terrelle Pryor
Julio Jones
A.J. Green
These are definitely not all the names just a couple quick noteables

I was curious and checked Andrew Luck was only a 4*

I say all this because 5 stars do tend to contribute a rather large percentage of the time. Though there are a lot of good 3 stars out there.

I'm not sure what's more surprising, the underachievement of that list or a man being named Christine.
