I think I'm happiest for Butch. The shots of the different emotions coming across his face, during the last play, where awesome. He has put SO much into this program, and he deserves every bit of this. I could not be more proud, of our coach, Lyle "Stones" Jones (Nickname courtesy of Brice). I hope this is just the beginning of this ride, and I wouldn't want anybody else leading us.

Here is the shot of Butch gettin a little misty after the game.... I may have shed a tear or two with him.

Stones? Why? Because he chose to throw a Hail Mary when his only other option was a 61 yard field goal?

I'm glad it worked out like it did but the "Stones" go to Jennings!

So when something good happens it's on the players and when something bad happens it's on the coach? Got it.

I don't think you do.

It doesn't take stones to call a Hail Mary when that's your only option. It takes stones to go into that mass of humanity and come down with the ball...get it?

I don't think he is the best X's and O's coach we've had at UT, but I'm not sure if any other coach has had more heart invested into the program. He is doing things the right way, having inherited a dumpster fire for player talent, morale, and stating the obvious need to go "brick by brick" to regain status as a top SEC program again. There has been noticeable improvement each year, more players are graduating, more attention is devoted to tradition and a sense of family, and while Team 120 may not be the best on the field, no one can question their grit and determination, a quality not seen by this VFL since Fulmer.

I'm just trying to go against my negavol urges and just be thankful to be 5-0 for the first time in a long while. The program's getting a lot of positive attention and we're in the driver's seat for the East. No need to whine and moan right now about how we're getting it done.

Butch is all heart. Sometimes that works, but sometimes it doesn't. When he puts a team on the field that plays four good quarters of ball, then I'll think he has changed.

I'm happy for him, I'm estatic for the team and the win, but I don't know if he can go toe to toe with the best in the game. We shall see this month.

Agree... At some point, despite the warts, you just have to enjoy the ride.

I love the fact that when Eason threw his bomb, Butch was extremely calm and talking to one of his assistants on the sideline about what had just happened. That let me know he truly thought we were going to win that game even in that moment of what should have been misery. Great job Butch and let's hope we can FINALLY put a full 4 quarters together next week!

I really like coach Jones and there's no doubt he's still in the process of rebuilding this program. Honestly, by how decimated the program was, I imagined it could even take 7 years to fully rebuild because an entire culture change was required. I know, that's way longer than what we've seen out of other schools but it's what my gut was telling me when I compared the status of the program when he arrived to the UT football of years past.

With the above in mind, here we are in year 4 and there are still line of scrimmage problems on both sides of the ball, dropped passes, fumbles, 'burned' coverages, poor tacking, and we still haven't seen the team pull together a full 60 minutes of football since the NW game last season.

As I've said before, I'll take an ugly win over a loss any day. But, we're 1/3rd the way the through the season and those same problems are following our guys from game to game. If all those little issues aren't corrected soon, they're going to put our boys into a hole that they can't dig themselves out of.

Edit: Corrected dumb mistake.

The reality is we have yet to put together a complete game. Bone headed mistakes on both sides of the ball and yet we're 5-0. We will put it together and each game we get closer to when we DO put it all together.

Jones may not ever reach a Saban like level, but it's hard to complain too much when you go 5-7, 7-5, 9-4, and now 5-0 to start the year. Pretty impressive and if you asked most people 4 years ago if they would accept that sort of progress I think most would answer heck yes.

The odds of Medley making the FG from there were better. Give Butch some credit... he's got a little bit of Les "the Mad Hatter" in him.

But, we're 2/3rds the way the through the season and those same problems are following our guys from game to game.

Did I fall asleep and miss the next 3 games or due to all the injuries did we decide to shorten the 2016 season to 7.5 games?

Coach Jones loves Tennessee, and I love Coach Jones for that.

Can't argue with 5-0.

However, these late game conservative offensive series, when we could get 1 first down and seal the victory, make me want to poke my own eyeballs out.

Next level for Butch --- develop killer instinct.

Ha! No, I just "fat-fingered" the numbers on my phone and apparently autocorrect fixed the rest for me. I promise, I can do math . . . I'll be revising my post after this reply (lol).
