just got my newest sports illustrated, and it has Luke listed as a probable top pick tomorrow in the draft. good to hear that.

hear are his stats so far.....14-2 record 1.90 era 131 k 42 walks and 118 2/3 innings pitched.

good luck in mlb

there is a real good article on the last page of the new si also. classic stuff. the issue has Danica Patrick on the cover.

it only lists like 5 of the top players but Pelfrey is there.

12-2 1.91 era 136 k 28 walks and 131 innings

it says this about Luke "Stingy righty leads nation in wins, holding oponents to .192 average and six homers.

and about Pelfrey "A 6'7" righthander with plus fastball and sinker won 10 or more games each of his three seasons in college

Just caught a recap of the MLB draft that happened today, and Luke Hochevar didn't get picked in the first round at all. Anybody know if the wasn't eligable for some reason or why he wasn't picked?

scott boras? why because of him? boras, though widely hated, is probably the premier agent in the game and gets the most for his clients. im sure there was some other reason. who were iorg and hochevar drafted by?

The Los Angeles Dodgers drafted Hochevar out of high school 3 years ago, but were unable to come to contract agreements and Luke opted for the University of Tennessee.

Concerns about Scott Boras is the main reason why Luke didn't get picked so high, his hometown team(Colorado Rockies) were all lined-up to take him but decided to take a SS from Long Beach State instead because of ease of signing him compared to Luke. LA currently says that they are willing to pay him even though they know it will be substantially more than if they chose certain other players with their 1st pick, so they must really like and want Hochevar.

Pelfrey the other pitcher considered with Hochevar as the possible best arm in the draft went at #9 and he also has Boras as his agent. So I am wondering if that was all there was to Hochevar dropping to #40?

Just a guess, but maybe its because Hochevar was previously drafted out of high school and he held out and never signed a contract.

He's a junior, so he still has the option of signing a contract with the Dodgers or coming back to Tennessee next year, LA has his rights for 1 year and if there is no agreemenr then he'll be placed right back in the MLB Draft.

Might've scared a few teams away, never know but that is just a possibility along with having an agent that is notorious for big money contracts and clients that hold out.
