Lugenbill predicted the Vols will finish with a losing record?

Call me old fashioned, but I tend to only count actual wins, as wins. I have never played the moral victory card. Even after LSU, and UNC.

I agree with you, but saying it is a new low is kinda harsh. Especially when Tennessee has claimed plenty of them the last few years.

Guys we could easily make a bowl we have alot of easy games. Montana, Cincy, MTSU, Buffs, Vandy and Kentucky. Thats 6 right there.

I wouldn't nonchalantly throw Cincy, Kentucy or Vandy in the win column after the past 5 years (and any of the rest either). This team could be anywhere from 5-7 to 9-3 IMO, but it better show up to play every Saturday. Nothing is a given right now. Next year, maybe, but not right now.

Everybody on this board who thinks we're only gonna win 6 games should just settle for the chubby girl, tie the knot, and then y'all should move back in with your parents and you should just go ahead take that teller job with the post office. Make a career of it. You'll need stability while you raise your underachieving children.

Defeatists. Y'all aren't fans of my school. Nope. So don't even claim it. And please for the love of good don't go to Neyland with that defeatist attitude. The general wants nothing to do with you and your contentment with the fat part of the bell curve. Take the easy way out. Do your program a favor.

Luginbill assumes that college football is linear. Like red and black in Roulette, in the SEC, it isn't.

Tennessee will take down at least 5 of the 6 games we're supposed to win and we'll win 3 of the 6 we're not.

Book it.

Cincy worries me more than Kentucky. The kittens lost all of their offensive talent from last year. They may have an O-line,,,but nothing behind it this year.

Does Montana count towards our win total for bowl eligibility since they are an FCS team?

Depending on injuries he could be right. For instance if defensive tackle takes some losses teams will run up the middle of our line at will. That being said Losing to Montana, Cincinnati, buffalo, MTSU Vandy or Kentucky is hard to pick one that seems realistic.

I know the talking heads keep harping on the fact we play the top three out of the west. They apparently think we'll lose every game against anyone decent and a game to someone who stinks.

The real dumb part is they're all hailing us as a team to watch for next year. I'm sorry guys but if they can't at least get 6 wins then i don't understand how all of a sudden they'll be great next year. The more you listen to these homers the less sense they make.

I know it's easy to say that we (Kentucky) is an easy game because of the streak. But I can't help but to think that it's not that easy of a game. It's actually been pretty close and competitive over the years....UT has just got the luck of the draw or has been able to finish when we can't. Here are the scores from the UK/UT games from the last five years:

2010: UT 24 UK 14
2009: UT 30 UK 24 (Overtime)
2008: UT 28 UK 10
2007: UT 52 UK 50 (4 Overtime)
2006: UT 17 UK 12

Granted a couple of those games had a little more point spread than others, the scores are still close enough that calling UK an "easy win" for the sake of beating us in the ground is not true. Calling us an "easy win" due to the streak is understandable, but not due to competitiveness as of late.

People who count KY as an easy win are fooling themselves. KY has been competitive the last few games and they are going to sneak up and bite us if Dooley doesn't keep them focused, which I think he will. Still, the streak will end, the question is when? We can't take any game for granted and lots of fans take Vandy & KY for granted and that is a mistake. Miscues, fumbles, turnovers can shift a game around in a hurry. I don't see KY winning this year though as I think we will be a much better team than last year.

And KY won't be as good as last year. I have no fear of Ky.

Wise UT fans will fear EVERY team UT plays. If the lack of experience doesn't scare you, then go back and watch the film...of Dooley giving interview after interview. It worries him.

As for WiseOlVol...9 wins. That is bold. I hope you are right, but I bet you your false teeth 8 wins is more likely.

Not even 6-6 this year but a losing record wow thats bold

why bold? it is possible that can happen. most are picking in the 6 win range which means could be 5 or could be 7. I think it will be one of 5, 6 or 7 depending on breaks. we are due the good breaks this year so I'm hoping for 7.

don't understand the bold though.

Like many my guess is 7-5 but 8-4 is certainly attainable. I think the Vols will win one or two games from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, LSU or Arkansas. We're surely bound to catch one or two of these teams on an off week or have few key turnovers that go our way in some of these games ... we're DUE.

To suggest that Tennessee will have a losing season with all the positive improvements that have been made just seems ridiculous to me and I would suggest Mr. Lugenbill not give up his day job and just stick with his high school talent evaluation instead.

Go Vols !!!

The same way UGA went 6-7 last year and yet still manages to be the "pick" of some of the "experts" this year....I put exactly ZERO stock in what the "experts" say

Fear no one.

And I can see Tennessee winning 9 this year...esp with the bowl.

Let’s face the facts gentlemen and I use the term gentlemen loosely most of the Northern media truly despise UT. I have been following UT for over thirty years now and I am just not sure why they continue to be so negative when anything is related UT. I think the perception of UT is that the school is just obsessed with the sports programs and we a group of fanatics. Which in some ways is correct. They are envious of the tradition the facilities, the size of the stadium the fan support we have and our insistence on maintaining top rated teams. I have felt for many years that most individuals who have never truly attended or seen a UT game played in Knoxville and the University itself have a very negative impression of Tennessee. I live in Miami one of the most beautiful cities in the country. But I love Knoxvilleand get back for a game at lease once a year. I am always battling peoples with misconceptions of Knoxville and UT. In my profession I work with a number of Gators, Hurricanes andSeminoles fans well you get the idea. They are always knocking UT. I loved it when we clobbered UM in the sugar bowl a defeated the Seminoles for the national championship I always point out to them that UT is one of the oldest university in this country and that there is not a sports program on the east coast with the sports tradition of UT. I tell them to get on the internet and look it up and they we can discuss it. Also the fact that Tennessee was winning against many of the northern university along the east coast before we were born. General Neyland was one hell of a coach. He was respected or feared by most other coaches including Bear Bryant. I know at one time I read an old news paper article where the UT team was referred to as a group of hillbilly thugs. Well that was how the game was played during that period of time. It was usually a slug fest. I actual the opportunity meet some of the old players who attended UT during the Neyland era and they said he was one tough intelligent SOB. Don’t let the commintators or talking heads get to you with the right coaches UT will be back on top again. There is no place in the South with a better football day atmosphere the Knoxville and I say that because I have been to most of the other schools. Even when Miami was winning the national championships they could get more than fifty thousand in attendance. Went the program gets back on its feet and begins to win just a little more we will have no problem recruiting with the facilities and fan support we have. What’s not to like about Knoxville. Would you rather play in rat hole in the northeast or play before 100,000 fans that love you in Knoxville. That does not seem to be too difficult of a choice.

I'm still trying to understand how Paul Finebaum gets a radio show on Sirrus XM. He clearly is a Tide fan and all those calling in are either Bama or Auburn fans. You would think a National sports program should be objective. I stopped listening to him after a week.
