I was thinking today, and started to feel very lucky that the Vols have had so much success last year and this year, considering all of the players that have been lost before their eligibility was up.

Consider the fact that before last year Ramar Smith and Duke Crews both got booted, both of whom would be seniors this year. Then Negedu had his unforunate incident this past off season, and of course T. Smith getting the boot as well.

In a matter of a year and a half we lost 2 Power Forwards, a center/power foward, and a point guard with lots of experience.

I know Crews wasn't amazing or anything, but I felt like he was improving each year and was a decent big man, which we currently severely lack. T. Smith speaks for himself we all know what type of player he was, and Negedu was a highly touted four man with irreplaceable energy on the court. Just a thought that may put things a little more in perspective.

With Crews, Ramar, Tyler, and Negedu, this team is a final 4 team I believe. That being said, I am so tired of living in "if" land.

Yeah I feel you on that, I didn't mean for this post to come off as an "if only" post I was just trying to somehow inject some perspective on how hard Pearl has had to coach and the players have had to play with everything that has gone on the past year and a half.

AND, of course, another pro-Pearl thread. What a shock.

I wouldn't call it a pro Pearl thread, it's actually just a fact of what happened to UT the last year and a half. Think about that and where we stand now, and I feel pretty good about the direction this program is going.

Think about out of Pearl's first recruiting class, Chism is the only one that remains.

Other than Negedu, maybe coach should recruit guys with higher character and goals.

Didn't you hear? Our roster problems are the result of a vast conspiracy between various antisemitic groups, Hugo Chavez, the Riddler, Alec Baldwin, John Calipari, Bill O'Reilly, Jimmy Dykes, Cobra Starship, Helen Mirren, and Lady GaGa. It can't possibly have anything to do with Pearl recruiting guys who couldn't meet the character requirements of disciplinarians like Kelvin Sampson.

Don't forget how good we would have been in the years before this with Major Wingate. Do we have to expect to lose players every year at this point? haha

I agree....the fact that we have two walk ons playing major minutes and the season hasnt fallen apart is a tribute to CBP. Regardless of what a few "Grass is always Greener" posters say........Pearl is moving us in the right direction.

Well why dont you go start yourself a thread entitled

"I think we should fire the guy who: has won us an out right SEC championship, dominated florida even when they had national championship teams, averaged 24.5 wins since his arrival, a #1 ranking (the only in school history, consistently ranked in the top 25, took down the curtains in the upper deck and changed the avg attendance from 5k to 20k (4th overall), became the 4th winningest coach among active coaches, has had 4 tournament appearances in four years- 2 sweet sixteens, recruited Two McDonalds all americans, and achieved this year (currently) a top three recruiting class"

Yeah...go start that thread. It makes a lot of sense. Especially given the rich tradition UT has in basketball

Do you have nothing better to do than to just follow me from post to post? If you want to dispute this forum than do so with facts otherwise go back to the girls swim team forum and continue to post why we cant ever win a nc in swimming.

So now you think you're being followed?

Must be a lot of sleepless nights.

Finally a good point. I agree we need to recruit smarter players with some integrity. However, I believe the newer players (past two years) and this years recruits are a cut above. Pearl had to settle a little more back then.

I consider the fact of what he is achieving on the recruiting trail to be a good sign of things to come. He has proven to me he can coach. Although until Roy Williams is here coaching I know you wont be happy.
