Lucas Taylor at QB?

I'm sure it was just experimental, but... why Lucas Taylor?

"This also is a great time for us to look at Lucas Taylor at quarterback and some of the option read-type stuff."
Straight out of Fulmer's mouth.

I've been saying this since 2005. He's got plenty of talent to play QB. He's not going to be a full-time SEC passer, but he can come in and contribute in certain situations.

I find it hard to believe that no one brought up the fact that he threw a TD against the vaunted UF D this year.

He was wide open for a while so I can understand why Ainge may have been expecting the throw earlier.

TVA=:crazy:

Man, TVA is catching a serious beatdown! He doesn't seem to respond well when that happens. I jacked him up on the Woody Paige thread last night, and he still hasn't responded to it! And you know, it's really breaking my heart!:cray:

By the way TVA, when did you take control of the boards enough to rate demanding that a thread should be closed because you didn't like the subject?!?

Lucas has plenty of talent...I'm sure nobody on this board was complaining when he hit Coker for six against Florida last year.

The plays will be in place next year...and if Taylor can't earn his spot on the offense, I'm sure Jones and Berry will have chances to run the plays too.

Maybe, but Taylor clearly has a head start on them. Neither of those guys have even gotten to Knoxville yet.

i was certainly not complaining, perhaps because it was the best play call i had seen from the UT coaching staff in years.

There was a cool QB draw play when they brought James Banks in to play QB just for one down. It went for a TD. I'm pretty sure that was 2003. I forget who the opponent was.

Alabama....25 yards, untouched. I don't know how they didn't see it coming, but I'm glad they didn't.

Haha! Well TVA just showed how full of crap he really is!

"Ainge struggled just as much, if not more than Shaeffer did that game..."

Ainge: 14-30 230 yards, 1 TD 1 int

BS: 1-2 8 yards.

Way to prove that you just spoke out of your ass, and will continue to do so.

14-30 isn't anything to write home about. :birgits_giggle:

UT has some plays in the playbook from when James Banks lined up at QB while in the game as a WR. Same with Eric Locke. Fulmer is just recognizing that Taylor fits that mode.

Taylor had a game in HS where he went for over 500 yards in one game. He'll get some looks just not alot of them.

If it works, people will call it genius. If it fails, they'll want Cutcliffe's and Taylor's head on a stick.

I'm going to predict Taylor will never take a snap under center a UT. So far he's done nothing at wr and fumbled at kick returner so I don't see why anyone would expect him to do special things at qb on a limited role. I mean will the coaches really trust him with the ball in his hands? I really don't think so, if anything I would say Eric Berry would do this before Taylor. And is it just me or does this stuff always seem to backfire when UT tries tricks or gimmicks?
