I know our boy Bradshaw isn't a world beater, but it ticks me off when the other guys laugh at him....

For a lastplace team, LSU sure doesn’tsound like one.

A day before opening an allor-nothing SEC tournament run with tonight’s 9:45 game against No. 22 Tennessee (22-9, 10-6 ), the Tigers (16-14, 5-11 ) warned, “Don’t take us lightly,” before doing just that to the Volunteers’ lone senior.

The final Wednesday news- conference question aimed at LSU coach John Brady was about UT forward Dane Bradshaw. Tigers starters Glen Davis and Tasmin Mitchell began chuckling on live television.

Meanwhile, Brady admitted he’ll really concentrate on guarding UT leading scorer Chris Lofton and “that Smith guy,” meaning guard JaJuan Smith.

“If Dane Bradshaw gets 30,” Brady said, “then that’s the way it’s going to be.”

Brady was still shaking his head when he exited the podium and walked toward LSU’s locker room with a final tongue-in-cheek quip.

“Shoot, Dane Bradshaw?” he said. “I hope he beats us. I hope he gets 30.”

It took seconds for LSU’s slight to reach Bradshaw when he arrived for Tennessee’s practice about an hour later. Warned by UT sports information, Bradshaw wasn’t taking the bait — at least not publicly.

As a 6-foot-4 power forward from Memphis, Bradshaw said he has heard worse during his basketball career.

“I’m not too bothered by it,” Bradshaw said. “I’ve heard so many worse things before that you’ve just got to brush it off. I’ll stick to the game plan. I don’t need any extra motivation. I’m going to play hard regardless.

“I’m saying all the right things here, guys.”

UT coach Bruce Pearl mirrored Bradshaw’s restraint, saying with a smirk, “Nothing surprises me anymore.”

Bradshaw has family ties to tonight’s opponent. His mother Linda graduated from LSU, as did her brother. Dane’s uncle Buddy Soefeker was a halfback for the Tigers football team from 1961-63.

“I’m still going to try to get Chris and JaJuan the ball,” Bradshaw said. “I’m not going to go out there and try to prove myself as some type of scorer just because of that quote.”

I'm not surprised about Brady's comments, but the players' snickering does surprise me. It's common knowledge that Brady is classless, but I really had some respect for his players.

He is a jerk! But I can't disagree with his game plan and I would guess that his news conference was all part of the plan!

This could just be the motivation Tennessee needs to go out and prove themseleves tonight. I think LSU needs to ask Florida just how dangerous Dane Bradshaw is.

He is consistent. Proves over and over again he can't be heartless-classes a-hole. Am sure he's a joy to be around during the holidays.

Let them snicker. I am going to enjoy watching Dane out-rebound and outhustle players with superior physical talent YET AGAIN.

when i read that i could not believe that a HC was actually providing this kind of bulletin board material to a team like us.....we all know our flaws, but lack of effort is not one of them, and why on Earth would you pour gas on that?

i hope it bites 'em in the butt. Go Vols! beat them tiggers.

DB from what little I've seen really hustles, he's a rareity, he gives everything he's got on every possession. He leads by example and sacrifices for the good of the team, but he still is the son of Happy Days' Potsie Webber :birgits_giggle:

Is it not everyones plan to stop the smith's and lofton? I mean that is how I would plan to stop UT.

Of course it is. Nobody is faulting Brady for that. Personally, I just think he and the Tigers stuck their collective foot in their mouth when they laughed off a question about Dane Bradshaw. I don't think it was calculated, but it just indicates a complete lack of respect for Dane in all aspects of the game, a complete misunderstanding of how Dane complements the marquee players in the offense, and thus a complete misunderstanding of our team as a whole

The fact is - Dane knows UT is his basketball career - He will not make the NBA. So, he puts everything he has into every game he plays. That's dangerous. I think Brady is trying to coax him into shooting more... trying to "score 30". However, Dane knows he's not a shooter... he has said so himself numerous times. Scoring is not what Pearl asks of him... The thing is... if they concentrate too much on Lofton and Smith, Dane is good at penetrating and either laying it in or dishing it to Crews or Chism.... I just hope Crews can hold onto the ball.

Wow, I thought maybe Brady's quotes from last year were mistakes, but he truly is a class-A jerk.

"That Smith Guy" had 15 points and 5 boards in the win over LSU, and "That Other Smith Guy" had 14 points. Oh, and Bradshaw had 8 rebounds, 2nd most in the game, behind Davis.

Everyone remember this is the same guy that had the nerve to make a comment about Bruce Pearl having no class. Remember last year when Tennessee played in Baton Rouge and Coach Pearl raised Bradshaw's hand because LSU was taunting him? Brady made the statement for Pearl to act like he has been there. This type of statement yesterday comes from a coach that has been to the final four. This guy has been there before and for him to personally say something as classless as this, not to mention allow his players to laugh at Dane, shows what type of renegade Brady is. This Big Orange Fan hopes Tennessee is on the "A" game and pounds them into submission.

Here's to hoping that exasperated look that seems to always be on Brady's face when things aren't going well stays there the whole night.

I hope there is a whole bunch of Orange and White there tonight, and they stay on that pitiful excuse for a coach the entire time.

I'm now officially pumped for this game. Sleep be damned...

Hmmm...let's see. The guy's crippled, hurting, can't lift his arm, scheduled for surgery....but still manages to drop in the winning shot.....you're right....Bradshaw is no big deal....

aww damn...I just realized I'm not going to be able to watch the game because it's not going to be televised at all in Washington. I'm going to miss LSU's last game of the season :cray:

Who cares what that hack had to say? That's all he can do is talk since LSU straight up SUCKS this year and won't even be sniffing the NCAA tourney

Heh heh ... now I'm stoked for this game and I will be in attendance seated in the lower level. I'm relishing the opportunity to give that @$$hat Brady some nice taunts after Pearl and Co cleans his clock and ends his season tonight.
