LSU vs Ole Miss

Kiffin might’ve struck gold with this Chambliss kid. I bet Ole Miss doesn’t win with Simmons. Now Kiffin is usually good for a loss or two they shouldn’t have but I have a feeling it might be different this year with this kid.
Their next big game was going to be at OU, but sounds like we aren't the only trending team that might get lucky having to face them without Mateer

Kiffin has always been an 8-4 guy everywhere he has been (overall avg, not each year of course), maybe leaning towards 9-3 more recently at Ole Miss. So he’s been good, not great. He tends to over coach in big games, similar to Kirby against Bama. This kid just might help him break through though. He’s averaging more than 300 yards passing and nearly 100 rushing through 3 games. That’s like Air McNair stuff, only against much better competition. The schedule is setting up nicely too. I think we will be seeing Ole Miss in Atlanta this year and in the playoffs.

I think Kiffin has turned corner in his career. The issue for him is not being able to compete with the best teams on his schedule, but not laying a goose egg against those Kentucky type teams like last year.

Especially in the expanded playoff era. It is why I think some of these schools like Florida are going to lose their curb appeal because schools like Ole Miss can get rich with sustained above historical average success with all the money flowing in.

Not to cling to Kiffin, but what is exactly the case for him to take the Auburn or Florida jobs over the years that gives him something Ole Miss can't? Ole Miss has clearly came up with the money solution for him that other schools historically have advantage over.

Historically, yes. They absolutely should’ve been a playoff team last year though. They find a way to lose a game they shouldn’t and struggle to beat the top teams on their schedule, although they get very close. Beating LSU was huge. I truly believe this year will be different.

He would be a fool to go to a place like Florida.

What you said earlier about schedule is spot on as well. Two big back to back games against UGA and OU, but then they should be heavily favored the rest of the year (USC, UF, MSU). They could potentially lose to both uga and ou and still make the playoffs, if not Atlanta still as well.

Their backup QB played better than their starter last week. OM should win this
Back up QB has been the starter since game 1 or 2?? Simmons has been hurt. But that's a heck of a back-up for a DII transfer. Somebody got those tape evaluations right. The change in that kids life are incredible. And he has delivered. DII multiple championship team to SEC starter via injury and he delivers in a big way. One comment from the announcers is that he told either the coaches or the team or both that he was just happy to have free gatorade. And he came from one of the top DII Schools.

Probably is a gamer because he wants to prove himself and prolly had small NIL deal while Simmons justifiably has been the Dart successor in waiting and has a nice NIL package.

Kiffin has to ride Chambliss until he can’t. Sucks for Simmons but the breaks go that way sometime with injuries.

I think we are going to see same thing with Redmond getting all this valuable playing time.

Chambliss is not a small guy. He's got the body for D1 football. Not sure how he got lost in DII his whole career. Just goes to show how exact finding and evaluating talent is not. Playing for Ferris State did help getting noticed when it came time to get that last season. But, even then going from that to SEC#2 QB was a hack of an accomplishment. Announcers even said that when Ole Miss was watching his tapes to see if they wanted him, they picked up some plays from Ferris they didn't have and added them to their playbook

Well he did transfer and is playing for arguably one of the best offensive minds in all of college football.

That is true. Kiffen will make a QB out of whoever he picks. And he finds them. He may not accomplish a whole lot more, but he will have a QB.

JMO, but I think coaches overlooked another hidden treasure in QB's in FCS. Maverick McIvor had a darn good career at ACU when he followed the defensive coach there (new ACU HC) from Texas Tech 3-4 years ago. WKU was his best offer in the portal for his transfer season. He's just under 1500 yards thru 5 games. Heck just the name alone shoulda got a P4 sideline pass.
