LSU Offense as bad as TN?

Although TN's roster doesn't match up with LSU or UGA, and TN must play at both places, both teams actually have their own problems.

I haven't been impressed with anyone but the kicker on UGA's roster. They just have more bodies that's all.

We were able to watch the UT/UAB game from our tailgate on Saturday. From what I was able to see, your offense is much better in passing than we can ever hope for at this point. I say that knowing full well the opponent y'all were playing. The thing is, I doubt our guy can put up decent numbers on anyone right now.

Some food for thought:

Total yards on the season:
QB Jordan Jefferson = 508
CD/Return Specialist Patrick Peterson = 489
RB Stevan Ridley - 434 rushing yards

We are winning because of special teams and defense. When we happen to cause a turnover inside the twenty, we have a back that can get it into the end zone. And Peterson has been great on returns.

Would love to have some of y'all stop by our new site, Tigalaya. Google that name if interested.

This upcoming game is a crapshoot at best. Don't expect to get dominated because our games are usually heart stoppers. . . . . . .

I think many of us are overreacting toward the WIN against UAB. We played Florida tough and came out flat against UAB. Do you think they were looking ahead a little? yeah I do. We'll get back up for LSU.

Call me crazy, but I don't think LSU is all that good. They've played overrated opponents and though their defense is great their offense isn't all that impressive. After they play us they are playing Florida, I think they're overlooking us due to the poor performance against UAB. If we come to play like we did against Florida and the first half of Oregon we'll have a shot. Do I think we win? No. I still think they are still better then us and we'll lose. But this may be the upset we'll be hoping for.

Looking at our remaining opponents I think we beat- UGA, Ole Miss, Vandy, and UK. 7-5 is not out of our reach. If we beat LSU (unlikely) I say we go 8-4!

Perhaps i'm a little more optumistic then most on here. But hey I have to look forward to something every weekend and if I think we have a shot then I'll enjoy myself a little more then dreading the whole week through. When it come to football I have to look for positives, real life is not all that much fun, so I at least want my football to be.

I'd take LSU to win this, but I'm for sure I would take any college football coach over Miles.

LSU's talent, and our lack of experience will be our downfall. But it won't be because Miles coached a good game.

Les Brains will keep us in the game, then the talent and depth he's stockpiled will eventually wear us down. On a side note i have no idea how he's been getting all that talent $$$$, it isn't because of his coach ability.

I agree with your assessment about the Tigers and also about our passing game. If we could ever get protection, QB, and WRs on the same page over an entire game we could be pretty good. Our issue is our very young offensive line. Your D is likely to eat them alive. We may very well keep it close, but I doubt the Vols can pull an upset unless your coach hands it to us on a silver platter or we get a whole bunch of turnovers without having any ourselves.

Will drop by your site later. :)

LSU's offense is not good for one reason... Gary Crowton. I have been calling for a new OC since the 5th game of 2008. He completely destroyed this offense by 2009.

I expect it to be tight game, I would give the edge to the Tigers if it were a night game. Day game, even, could go either way.

The offense has all the pieces except a OC.

LSU Top 3 D + Top ST + Worse Offensive Coordinator = A game that can go anywhere

If Vols want to win don't kick to Peterson, don't punt to Peterson, don't run to Peterson's side, and don't throw to Peterson's side. Matter of fact don't even look at him.

I saw that you stopped by, thanks. Went ahead and manually validated your account there.

What has been our saving grace is the fact that our defense has a tremendous amount of depth. For instance, we literally see the entire d-line replaced/rotated throughout just about every series. With our poor offensive play and the great defensive play, having a fresh defense is critical late in games.

:) It would be good to be Peterson I guess!

TN will need plenty of turnovers from LSU, play a turnover free game, and a good running game to run lots of clock so as to shorten the game.

Given LSU's depth, its hard to see how TN stays competitive in the 4th quarter against them?

Its going to be the same story as against Oregon and Florida. Good first half or so then we get worn down. No way we can expect our guys to be able to keep up with fresh legs the entire game.

LSU's offense isn't nearly as talented as oregon and florida. Their passing game is nothing to write home about. If we can control the clock with our running game, don't turn the ball over, get a lucky break on a fumble or interception we've got a chance. And yes...I'll admit it's a long shot.

The game plan is simple against LSU.

1.) don't kick, punt, run, or throw near Peterson
2.) trying running and don't give up on it, run late in the game
3.) don't turn the ball over

You do that and the game should be very close in the 4th quarter.

They have offensive problems just like us. The differences is in the defense. Ours will play well for a half until they get over worked like last week. LSU has a great D and when they push our Offense into 3 and outs all game long, it will make our D tired from being on the field too long. I hope I am wrong, but LSU will put up mucho points.

I just don't see us putting up lots of points. Through four games, our qb is 43-of-79 with 2 touchdowns and 4 picks. SEC teams don't allow us to run the ball with success all game long.......

Once the game starts Saturday, you will not be facing an SEC caliber Defense either.

I was refering to LSU offense versus the UT defense. Right now....the UT young defense is not a quality SEC defense.

Any defense you put out there has a chance against LSU's offense. Try to stop Ridley, get LSU in passing situations.... don't mess with Peterson... chances are it will be close game.

If Vols get up by 7+ points, expect Lee to come in for Jefferson.

It really is that simple, no turnovers, no playing with Peterson and good chance of a very close game. Until LSU gets a real OC, the team is playing on one leg most games should be close.

Call me crazy, but I don't think LSU is all that good.
You're one-third correct. LSU's offense is among the worst I have seen watching LSU football for 35 years. Pathetic comes to mind. Embarrassing.

On the other hand this LSU defense is among the best I have seen and that includes the 2003 National Champion defense. I underestimated Chavis when he was hired, but the man knows his business.

And the special teams this year, both kicking and defending kicks, have already won one game for us and will do so again, likely. Expect LSU to get good field position and points on the board from special teams.

But if Tennessee can post 24 points on LSU's defense . . . you can beat LSU. It won't be easy, but that is the ticket.

This year LSU has no passing game to come from behind. If they get ahead early, they will go very conservative and grind out long minutes on the ground trying to keep your offense off the field.

LSU is a terribly flawed team that completely underachieves given the talent level they put on the field, so in most years for UT this would be a good opportunity to knock them off. Of course, you could have said the same thing about the Gators and yet they beat us by two TD's in Neyland. Sadly, this UT team is pretty comparable in overall depth and talent to Miss. St. and Vandy, and LSU beat both of them 29-7 and 27-3, even though they didn't look real good in either game. We'll keep it close at halftime, probably something like 13-10, and then, as surely as day follows night, UT will fade midway through the third quarter. Final will be something like 31-13.
