I was thinking that we are in a pretty similar situation to what else LSU was in the 90’s. LSU was downright horrible in the 90’s actually worse than we have been in the 2010s decade. They had 7 losing seasons and went to just 3 bowls, they had 6 consecutive losing seasons from 89-94. Also like us they had some pretty crappy coaches during that stretch. Of course we all know they eventually got it turned around in 2000 by finally finding the right coach some guy named Saban. The question is as the worst decade in modern Tennessee football comes to a end. Can we find our Saban to bring us out of the toilet and back to being a power again?

Actually pretty good analogy. I remember looking at LSU in the 90’s like they were in the range of an Ole Miss or SC. Logic at LSU is they are too big to fail, when considering sec powers...just like UT was too big to fail...until we did. We aren’t that far off from getting back to at least bowl conversations but other mid-lower teams like MSU or Ole Miss, or even SC KY or Vandy don’t just get good without team which is “old” or a guy who levels the field to raise up the team...usually a QB.

We truly appear to have some good young talent. They just have to stay after it and get better play from QB. Get Majors to come in and talk to the team about 1988 0-6 start, which finished 5-0, and put us on a platform for some good years ahead. You could make an argument that the finish of that season catapulted us to good 1989 and 1990 seasons which put on our path to dominance. It’s darkesst before the dawn and it’s oretty dang dark right now.

Even if we only win 2-3 games we gotta stick with CJP. I think we need take the KY / Mark Stoops route. Yeah he may post 2-3 losing seasons, but I think by year 4 we'll be glad we stuck it out with him and Cheney. Our problem over the past 10 years has been coaching turnover. We need to allow CJP to stack 4 recruiting classes. It took Stoops 4 years to go 6-6. Now that can be accelerated if we have a QB come in and ball out early, be it Mauer, JT, or Bailey. Otherwise if you looking for 8/9 wins check back in 2021.

Don't you realize that is the "me" era. I want what I want and I want it now. What do you mean that I have to work harder to get it faster? My parents will get it for me if I really want it. If I want to go to the best schools, I don't have to worry. My parents will bribe the colleges and I can even get a scholarship in a sport and I don't even have to know how the play the sport.

Right, because kids haven’t been getting into Universities because of money in this country before we were even a country.
That said, I will wait for you Aunt Becky. I just bought a rowing machine.

I was living in Baton Rouge during that time when LSU was in the dumps. The Vols came to town and I went to see them--Majors and Heath Schuler beat the Tigers and at this game I saw how shallow and petty fans can be. They were booing, name calling their own team the whole game. I felt so bad for the players. This was around 91', Curly Hallman was their coach. Years later LSU fans talk trash like they've been world beaters all their lives.Folks, it's just a game--keep things in perspective.

LSU has more talent within 150 miles of their stadium than entire state of Tennessee- and those kids want to go to LSU.
