LSU in free fall

Why is the governor making decisions at a school he didn’t even attend? Stay in your lane bro

Under the logic of taxpayer interest. The taxpayers are on the hook for the buyout if private money doesn’t cover it. I believe the reporting has since confirmed private coverage, but he let his words fly before that.

I do agree with his point on the conflict of interest as it pertains to agents representing both parties negotiating contracts.

Landry knows damn well that will be covered by donors, and in the off chance that it isn't, it'll come out of athletic department funds (which also isn't public money). He's using taxpayer considerations as a cover to justify a more detailed level of involvement in it beyond what you'd normally expect.

Not disagreeing, but just making a related note. The year before LSU fired Les Miles, he should have been fired THAT year, but their Gov then, Jindal, got involved just enough to keep the ole grass muncher for one more year. Sounds like current Gov is even more involved. 🤔

Of course, the irony in the whole thing is that his rant about how dumb it was to guarantee BK's contract, and the relationships between the coaches and agents involved (although he got some of the details wrong), were absolutely correct.

It's just wild that a sitting Governor would 1) be involved at that level and 2) make those statements in a press conference, which is going to make it much harder for them to hire a good coach.

Agree that seemed like an uninformed knee jerk take - even if hes right to criticize the contract and the AD track record. He could have been just as involved behind the scenes.

But I’m not a Louisianan, maybe his constituency supports him

That was only 10 years and $75 million. $7.5 mil/year is nothing now lol

Hasn't even been 10 man. A&M hired Jimbo the same cycle we hired Pruitt (IIRC anyway). Not even 8 years yet

4 years after we all.mocked Jimbos 7.5 million/yr as absurd, we all cheered after we raised Heupel to more than that lol.

This was from an interview right after he was hired on why he took the job Before he even hired Heupel.

Notice the parallels between what he said back then compared to the current LSU situation.

This could be very bad

Dude....seriously....relax. THEY AREN'T GOING TO LSU

Not to mention a possible defamation of character lawsuit that could come into play if he doesn't stop bashing the AD. Only half of which is true apparently. And that payout will come out of taxpayer funds.

Jimbo's annual salary was never the absurd part of that contract. It's that it was fully guaranteed.

Also, Heup got raised to more than that 5 years later.

He’s trying to improve his really low approval rating but prolly did more harm than good

I would be careful here. This might be a slight variant on Kiff bailing on us way back when.

D White has a history of and is on record as saying that he was someone who preferred to "straighten out" athletic departments and that he is mentally someone who dislikes just "maintaining".

LSU might present him with challenge that he can't resist. Tigers could also be targeting a White/Heupel pairing which would kill us.

Very disturbing news when I woke up this morning.
Get back on your meds before you fall off a cliff

That’s never stopped a governor in Louisiana from doing anything or stealing anything that they wanted to. See Huey P. Long and Edwin Edwards. Edwards once said he could do whatever he pleased and that the only way he would be thrown out of office was getting caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy.
