Probably won’t matter now. He’s already played in 30 games. At this point, they’d be smart to just lie and deny, especially if they want to back Wade, unlike Tennessee with Pearl and Tyndall. Sitting Smart acknowledges something wrong occurred.
I'm not sure about that tactic that you propose. If LSU doesn't suspend all those who are involved, doesn't it point to the more dreaded lack of institutional control? I'd suspend Wade and whatever players are suspect now, and boot them when the evidence becomes incontrovertible. I don't think LSU, the school, has a choice in this matter. True, they are going to get hammered for Wade being a coach and not just some rogue booster, but if the university doesn't take action now, I think it only compounds the problem.

Holy crap, that is a bad look overall for them. If he is talking about Javonte Smart then that's really bad cause he played in all their games, it wouldn't really take affect until after the season plays out but dang this is bad. Plus he's not even a one and done player, I'd understand if he was but he's not. Just seems like a bad move on Wade's part
IF he's talking about Smart. He obviously is. You would understand if he was talking about a one and done? So, it would have been okay if he was deemed a one-year player?

The LSU boards are a bit of a mix between "we're f'd" and "they can't prove anything"

There is an interesting lack of anyone who seems to be on the "he didn't do anything wrong" side. I don't think I saw a single post.

The general feeling is that if the blue bloods can get away with it, then they should be able to, and a lot of "everyone is doing it".

Yahoo report: Wiretap reveals Wade discussed recruiting 'offer' with middleman

Oh, and thanks Freak for not naming our board "Smokey take a Dump".......Tiger Droppings.....seriously?

"More than the rookie minimum."

LSU needs to either cut ties and self-impose violations for this postseason, or they will get killed. They are no blue blood and the NCAA will treat them as if they are not, also. It does not help matters that very few in the coaching profession respect Will Wade.

Check out the denial on the LSU boards. These people are NUTS.

Tiger Rant - LSU Football - Sports Forum
I already did, and yes they are. Insane really!

**Edit** instead of them spending so much energy in defending him or acting like it's no big deal. They would be better served debating who the replacement should be. He won't coach another game, he's done!

You cant possibly compare what Pearl did to this.

It's funny that LSU had as much talent under Johnny Jones as Will Wade but never a hint of success. Now the fans are going crazy with the success only to have the rug pulled out from under them...welcome to Tennessee's world

I kinda feel bad because in the call itself he was kinda pointing out he was trying to make a good deal for the kid and his mom..if nothing else good on him for that.

I think its all BS this should not have to be done this way if the NCAA would stop being arsewads. These kids literally generate billions in revenue. The NCAA could set aside or let universities set aside a small fraction of their proceeds to pay players. Lets be real College Basketball and football are not at all amature sports and Full scholarships do not pay for 100% of expenses. Further, athletes are cut off from options to cover expenses a lot of normal students have. When I was in college I had a full ride (academic) but even with grants I still needed work study and a regular job to cover expenses not to mention between semesters.

It is flat out not fair. These kids give up a lot of their lives to play at this level. Its a year round thing. To be a top level player it takes a lot of dedication and sacrifice and only a very small percentage make it to the next level no matter how hard they try. They are under immense pressure to perform and for most at the end of their careers all they have to show is a student loan and MAYBE a degree. I know that sounds like a lot and it is except for the fact the NCAA/ESPN/CBS/NBC/Conferences/Coaches are making BILLIONS on them.
