LSU Contemplating Secession From SEC

I'm hesitant to make a call one way or the other based on a couple of still photos -- regarding at what point Peterson had fully secured controlled possession of the ball and whether either foot was touching the boundary line at the point that he had accomplished that. Expert officials who saw the play and reviewed video replays are better able and better qualified than me to do that.

There are some still photos of Julio's big play where LSU fans are whining that there was a block in the back on an LSU defender. On video it looks more like the defender was faked out of his cleats to the point that he would not have made the play and that the blocker hand checked rather than push him. Good no call, IMO.

The series of photos claiming LSUs QB was speared shows that he was indeed not speared with the crown (top) of the helmet but that the defender hit him with the forehead part of his helmet which is legal. That same series of photos shows that an LSU lineman was blantantly holding Bama player #25 (Rolando McClain), but the LSU fans failed to mention that.

A lot of observers see what they want to see. Still photos can be very misleading. Video is much better for assessing what actually occurred on a given play.

Keep trying consiracy theorists.

You can't tell me you can look at that photo and not doubt the official's ruling.

Geographically speaking, it makes more sense to have LSU and Arkansas in the Big 12.

It wont ever happen though.

The poor officiating is out of control but it has been terrible for a long time now. I don't know what the answer is. More cameras? background checks on the officials?
College football is too important to too many people to have these guys decide the outcome of games on incompetance or personal agendas.

bammer and Florida have gotten ALL the calls this year.
Of course, it is in the best interest of the SEC to have an undefeated bammer and Florida play in Atlanta.

LSU got totally screwed, we did, as many have against the boys in maroon.
Something has got to be done but what??

Wow! If a fan can get a picture that provides evidence to refute a call, How can a replay official not. Incredible. Also, there should be more criticism of the refs making the wrong call in the first place. I mean really, it was clear without the replay!

Very hard for someone to use the term "expert officials" and claim they are much more qualified than an average fan even vaguely aware of the most rudimentary of rules after the horse dung calls the same "experts" have made this year.

No conspiracy but obvious to everyone except bama fans that the call on the field was wrong.

Strange how fast they go from love of crooked refs to hatred.

Love at the UGA game, hatred after the Bama game.

Slive cannot fine me and I have been disgusted by the way this conference protects Alabama and Florida.

Hopefully TN can start beating Florida and then we will know that refs will bail us out so that we can stay in the hunt for the NC.

Can we count on the support of Vol fans when it comes time to sign the release form? It looks like the Big 12 is a better fit for us long term. Just in the early stages of thought. This thread sets it up and explains some of the proposals and rationales. Thanks Vol fans. It has been an honor being a fellow charter member of what was formerly the greatest conference in college football.

So wait a minute… LSU wanted to leave the SEC because of a blown call!?
Granted, I just breezed through this thread, but really? C’mon man!

Awful username. What a knob.

LSU leaves and there would be plenty of apps on Slive's desk to take their place
There absolutely would be. Now that Oklahoma and Texas are all but in the SEC which one of these applicants move the needle? USC and/or Oregon aren't walking through that door. Due to academic snobbery on the left coast they would bolt to the BIG first. Would Clemson or FSU apply for membership?
