Does anyone else feel like LSU being ranked 37 spots higher than us is just a little bs? I know its a preseason poll but but when it accounts for a third of the the BCS rankings when they come out it makes a difference. Considering they needed an extra play to beat us last year I think they should be a little lower and we should be a little higher but that's just my opinion.

I think it is great...makes us look even better when we smash them this year.

Just because we always seem to play LSU close doesn't mean they aren't a whole lot better than us. This comes out in comparing scores against common opponents like Alabama.

No. They may be the most talented team in the country to be honest.

seems about right...for a pre-season poll...which are all nothing but horse**** anyway...

I agree with the OP. They are crossing their fingers that they have adequate QB'ing this year. They try to brag about their DBs based on last yr but they lost their "Eric Berry" in Peterson. And today they lost their offensive coordinator, essentially. LSU could start out losing 3 of their first 4 games, but then as dude above says, there'd be less glory in us exacting karma on them when they come to Knoxville. We'll see.

I agree and I think we beat them by atleast a touchdown. If they are the most talented team in the country then maybe they should be #4 but that still doesnt mean there that much better than us. They scored on what the first and last plays of the game so maybe we should just be ranked a little higher if there deserving of being ranked that high.

Don't worry, they'll get beat by Oregon, drop to about 12.. And not go anywhere from there.. They don't really have a "proven" QB, Peterson is gone. IMO best players they have is their RB Duo.. Just me though.

Turnover margin is the only reason UT was in position to win the LSU game last year. The rest of the stat sheet was dominated by LSU.

OP said considering it took an extra play in a single game we should be closer in rankings. Would anyone say that about The Bama team that needed a blocked fg to remain undefeated against us. The next year after that we should have been closer by your logic but were light years apart. Teams can't be compared for a seasons body of work based on a single game in that seasons work. Otherwise you have to incorporate the Team that beat the team that beat the team, until you find a team that won 2 ball games but with that scenario beat teams that won a bcs bowl. So to answer your question LSU deserves their ranking by their talent returning from a great team a season ago. We return several players from a team that lost in a non glamorous bowl. I say our ranking is fair. That being said FINAL POLLS of regular season and after the Bowl games are the only polls that essentially matter anyhow.

LSU has talent, they always do. They don't always do something with that talent though. I really think Jeffries is not that great of a QB, he is ok, but not a game changer.

LSU will be 3rd in the West this year and nowhere near that number 4 preseason ranking.

LSU will beat Bama and Arkansas so...how they going to finish 3rd in the west? Lol. But I still say they lose to us.
