Low student ticket sales for South Carolina game

I spend over $10k per year in air fair, hotels and rental cars to come in from Oregon every game and I don't feel like I'm entitled to wins. I just love going regardless.

There's a forum just for tickets, just so ya know.

Thanks but I was only joking. Im saying students at UT should feel honored to get tickets to UT fball games and not skip them because we may lose, which we won't this Saturday. Mark it down!

That didn't even cross my mind haha, my bad.

How many fans do we think will be there this weekend?

I will be there of course. It has hurt coughing up money to see what the outcome has been lately. Hopefully it will be better this week. I could save more money watching at home but I love going to the games and giving them my support. I stayed the whole entire game in bama this last week. I may go to KY game away this yr also. I am not sure. I yell for them all game long, but it was hard last week. TN fan base was extremely low. It is the worst I've seen for away game. There was like total of 5 us yelling for them while they were on Defense. I know it is hard but the 12th man is us and it can help at Neyland Stadium. It is a night game. Let the howling begin at 7:15 saturday and not stop after midnight. Lets rock that stadium..... Especially coming out of half time.

Im so glad not everyone is like you. Like i said before the team needs the support way more when they are losing than they do win they are winning.

Do you seriously believe these players look to fans for moral support? I'll be there, I got seats with my friends on row 5. I'm just explaining why many students would opt out. Why waste $10 when you could actually be doing something productive or fun with your real life. This team isn't a freaking child that needs coddling. It's a group of men who haven't achieved anything significant in over a decade.
College at UT is about way more than a football game against South Carolina.

to sell the remaining tickets, why doesn't the UT ticket office cut the price of tickets in the last few days or use an auction system to get rid of the remaining tickets. Instead they will be stuck with thousands of unused tickets. What gives??

True. However, there are only 7-8 home games a year. Not many out of a year.

Let's be honest here, there are way better people, I mean things to do on a Saturday night than watch our sorry ass team lose to an overrated/underachieving USC team.

Don't really agree with this. I think my frustration level with our football program is at an all time high for a number of different reasons, but there's still not anything I'd rather spend this Saturday night doing that going to the game.

I agree, and I personally love going to as many as I can. I'd also never miss an important SEC or OOC game. It's just frustrating when people act like football is all college is about to students. It's not. And if UT athletics is the reason someone chose to go here, they've got their priorities really mixed up.

Fair enough and I commend you, most students probably wouldn't agree wouldn't agree though.

It may be hard to imagine, because your entire time in college has been spent during an era in which UT has put a largely irrelevant and sometimes even embarrassing product on the field, but there was a time, not really all that long ago when football was a BIG deal at UT. Hopefully someday we'll see it return, but with each game that goes by it seems more and more like distant memory that isn't showing a lot of promise of returning any time in the near future.

When I was there it was a huge part of it. The parties before the games, the rowdy student section and camping out for Florida tickets were all great times that made Tennessee a much better college experience. It didn't hurt that between 1995 and 1997 we lost one home game. I chose Tennessee because of my love of the Vols growing up. I always used the Spring semester to rebound the GPA.

Most fans don't get how peripheral football is to campus life. It just isn't as big a deal as everyone assumes it is. We won two SEC championships while I was a student, but still -- tons of the people in the UTK community at the time seemed barely aware of it. Depends on who your friends are, I guess. Some of my friends were completely into it but I knew a lot of people that just did not care at all.

The Vols have been awful for the whole time current students have been on campus, and last won a championship when they were in early elementary school. Totally unsurprising that the kids would be more interested in pregaming for Halloween parties than going to the game.

There's just not a lot of student support right now.. There are some who will be out there rain, shine, hot, cold, etc, but there are others who would rather just watch it in a bar, presumably to continue drinking.

RIGHT! Yet these same students will not support their own team...they'll sure spring for a case of beer or a joint, though. Empty seats in the student section have become an embarassment in Neyland.

Ummm...half of the friends I made at Tennessee chose to go their for the sports experience (mainly football).

You are crazy if you don't think that historically our football program is the reason why a large segment of the student body chose to attend the school.

I know that is the reason this guy did.:rock::dance:
