Low point in Jones' rebuilding project

The schemes that CBJ & Company are using on offense are way out of date. They do not work in the SEC. Think about it...Butch came to Neyland with Cincinnati with those same offensive schemes and Dooley beat his brains out!!!!

The scheme we are using is just a variation of spread option that a lot of successful teams are using right now including Auburn and Miss State and using that game from 2011 to attack Jones has grown very tired. Like it should be easy for Cincinnati to beat Tennessee on the road as long as Tenn has a bad coach.

A not insignificant number of fans who don't understand things like roster attrition and poor Oline recruiting by Dooley will probably turn on CBJ after tonight.

People started turning on Dooley after he went 0-3 against UGA, UF, and Bama two years in a row, and it will happen to Jones as well.

Thankfully, ignorant fans like that are the minority, but if he doesn't make a bowl game this year, their voices will be pretty loud heading into the offseason.

Agree but it is sad that the ignorant fans tend to make all the noise. Good news Butch will get His three or four years to improve.

We should have brought in more linemen this year. Did the coaches not foresee the lack of talent we would have this year?

Which is why if Dobbs needs to play its not worth keeping him out they NEED a bowl.

I agree and I am a Dobbs fan. However, if it's just for this game and then back to Worley, I would rather roll out Peterman, close my eyes, and take our beating. One unwinnable game is not worth losing the redshirt. If Worley is out more, go with Dobbs all the way.

I hope you are right OP. I've been around long enough to remember the Battle transition to Majors. We went 11 years without being ranked in the final AP poll. I was eight when that drought started and nineteen when we beat Miami in the Sugar Bowl. The long wait made it sweeter but it was a long wait none the less. Sure there were some decent seasons and some duds, it took Majors five years to get to 8 wins, 1 bowl ( a loss) in his first four, I don't guess he'd get that kind of time these days.

Win three/four games the rest of the way? We might not win any. The offense will have to suddenly start playing MUCH better for us to win two more games, much less four.

Even though it's still in the first qaurter, Kentucky looks good on offense against Miss State. I honestly don't think we beat anyone else other than Vandy.

And I will honestly believe that Kentucky beats us in Neyland when I see it...I think you are jumping the gun just a bit. Miss State will win big.

We are becoming KY. Good start offense and defense but nothing to show for it. In the end a blow out.

I think we are seeing the low point in this rebuild when you put last week and today together.

I don't believe you could find two worse matchups for us. Probably the two best defensive front sevens in college football going against our depleted/undeveloped offensive line. Add to that, playing a backup QB.

If things go poorly tonight, take a moment to understand things. That said, I agree it sucks.

I agree. Personally, I'm expecting the worst tonite, to avoid disappointment. However, because I'm a VOL fan, I leave the "any given Saturday" theory open for surprise!!!

GBO!!!

We can't score. Two straight sec games without a TD. Today will likely be 3 straight. Kentucky can put up points. Gonna be a tough game.

We NEEDED talent in just about every friggin position. You can only do what you can do...the OL is basically a bunch of freshmen and some are banged up - people normally on the right, playing the left and so on...it's just a mess.

What have you seen from us in the last month to even think up things like this? I just don't understand comments like this. Yeah sure we should slaughter Mizzou. They are terrible. What a gift FLA gave them on the road? And USCe is horrible. Probably the worst team ever and how about KY- worst team they have had in years. Get a clue man. We will have to play like gangbusters to win 2 of those games. "Manageable"? Give me a break.

You mad, bro? I said manageable, not guaranteed. Grab some midol and relax.

Might as well get ready cause the haters are gonna have a lot of ammo for the remainder of this year. Sucks but its true. Im sure there are more of you like me that will avoid Volnation after this game, so any outsiders that come on here will be overwhelmed with the negativity (or truth as they will call it). Im gonna do my best not to judge this staff untill 2016, if they arent winning at least 9 or 10 games by then, they deserve any and all criticism they get.

I support this staff. However, the way this season plays out is going to be very telling. If we tank it, I think it is going to be very hard seeing Butch and Co. Getting it done.

I understand the limitations on this team. However, what I don't understand is why there have been very few adjustments made to minimize our weaknesses. One is the stubborn attempts to go empty in the backfield. This is a recipe for disaster with our O line.

I also want to point out that we have led in every game but one this season. So, the coaches are getting the team ready to play. But, the minute momentum turns, there is no ability to adjust in-game to turn it back around. This is another thing that must improve.

I would like to see this staff adjust to the personnel we have for the rest of the season and put a team on the field that competes. We didn't do that against Ole Miss for four quarters.

The schemes that they are using are the best we can try considering the talent and experience at QB and OL.

No bowl game. We won't beat KY

The four games after Bama are winnable with our current talent -- if the team has not gelled and improved at this stage there is a problem with the process

If you correct and we lose to KY then we need to extend the offensive coaches' contracts for a decrease in salary and reduce the buyouts for the following year - since we just can't afford to fire them now according to some

7 - 5 or 6 - 6 and we're going bowling this year!

South Carolina, Missouri, Vandy and Kentucky are beatable. WE'RE NOT A TOP 25 OR EVEN 30 TEAM right now and that's what it would've taken for us to have a real chance against Oklahoma, Ole Miss and tonight against Bama.

Stay positive, hope nobody gets hurt too badly and we will be in a position to win out AFTER tonight - heck, we might even be FAVORED TO WIN A COUPLE.

OK let's be honest after the game and call it what it is..without 10,000 excuses.
