Love Me Some Whataburger

Married to a Texan here. They no longer have the same regard for it. They sold out to a PE firm a few years back and it changed. Service, product, etc. It's like Wendy's now. Some locations/shifts you still get a good burger but many times, you just regret it.

The locations near Shelby County are absolute trash...

I think In-N-Out or CFA is a little overrated but Ive rarely had a bad experience there...
I haven't noticed much of a difference before and after PE. Seems like it's been overrated the entire time.

The food is fine; it's more the wait time. I haven't been back (admittedly, I don't have one close to home anyway) since I waited 30 minutes or so at one in Midland, TX a few years ago that wasn't busy, and the burger was cold, then stopped at one in Alabama on the way to the beach a few weeks later and had the exact same experience.

It used to be consistent and good with good service. It was never great but it was always consistent and fairly priced.

Now, the service is inconsistent at best. They've cheapened the products. There's a chance you get a really good district manager in the 865 market who keeps service strong. There's a much stronger liklihood they start nickle and diming on staffing and service a few months in. The full lots will look like any other fast food place once that happens...

Agreed. The wait time is absolutely ridiculous. Doesn’t even matter if they are slammed or dead

I live in upstate SC and my work takes me all over the state/SE. My fav burger is an absolute hole in the wall - McCutcheons Cheeseburger House - and if you're ever near Greenwood SC I encourage you to find it.

Whataburger came to the upstate. For the first few weeks they had lines down the highway. Now they seem pretty empty. We'll see how long they stick around.

I live in the upstate as well and they are popping up everywhere. Most people seem to like them but it just doesn’t “wow me” like it does some. I like 5 guys if I want a good burger. The wayback burger places are pretty good and I think dennys has an underrated burger. I don’t mind cookout either.
