First off, I'm not mad about the previous football season. I'm just extremely disappointed. I made excuse after excuse for this team and I truly thought we were getting better. The season just ended in the worst way imaginable. My worst fear as a Tennessee fan came true. And yet, life still goes on.

One thing that I'v realized is that this stretch of seasons that have been so hard have groomed us as fans. We are scarred and battered. We always knew how to win. Now we know how to lose. It's like life. The fun vacations you take with your friends and family wouldn't be so fun if work wasn't such a drag all year long. You can't appreciate the cool air unless the heat burns.

One of these days Tennessee will be good again. It may be next year, it may be 20 years from now. Who knows? But when that day comes and we are back on top. Holding some sort of humongous trophy high in the air, with all the other teams in the SEC glaring at us with envy.... I am going to think about these years and remember how we got here.

I'm going to remember blocked field goals, torn ACL's, burning mattresses, 13 men on the field, Johnathon Crompton, UCLA, Wyoming, the blurry ending of the Music City Bowl, broken thumbs, overtime with UAB, Matt Simms, 2 freshman linebackers, Ed Orgeron, Matt Roark and f***in James Franklin.

Unconditionally,
Go Vols

I was born watching some great football here.

But I was also around for some terrible basketball years. I was there for years of sub-mediocrity. Noone in TBA! But then, things got better and I saw the number of fans increase a little. Then things got real good real fast, and there were fans everywhere.

I don't think the ones who weren't there before have the same kind of appreciation for the success.

I think winning again will feel better than it did when I was just born into it.

College sports are about the players, coaches, students and fans. I wanna see all 4 having a great time.

Thank you. That is the kind of motivation we need right now. Lot's of positive thinking. What else is there?

It is post like this one that give others the mental therapy they need. Football in its basic form is just for fun. That includes the fans watching and supporting. So for me, I will keep following the TN football program when they are down and when they are up but it will always be for entertainment.

I know it will come again. 3 seasons and 3 different coaching staffs, Kiffin bailing on the team leaving us in a lurch with the NCAA, attrition of over 40 players, playing boys against men, stupid fans calling for the guy's head who is trying to fix the mess, and losing to KY. I don't know if DD will take us to an NC, but progress is being made bringing in better players. It won't be long before we start winning 8, 9, 10 games a year. Can't wait.

You need to get out of here with all that optimism and positive stuff, we don't do that around here!

Well said. It may take awhile, and yes it may not be Dooley as head coach, but we will back some day. I was unfortunate that my wife and myself decided to drive to Lexington to watch game. I'm all VOL regardless after watching the inconceivable game in Lexington. I'm just bitterly disappointed in the team, I know we can play better than that. Just remember that you win as a team and lose as a team. Pointing fingers only creates more division on the team. It's obvious that some players aren't giving 100% and coaches to. I'll still renew our season tickets and the sun will come up tomorrow.

I am in complete agreement with you sea of orange22. It has been hard to stomach but I used to always think about how envious some other teams were of us to lose to us all the time. Now we are getting our payback! Hopefully the ship is righted sooner than later! I knew we would not be great this season but honestly the lack of being prepared and fired up and ready to play against Kentucky nearly killed me! That was utter disappointment in my opinion. I love this team and have backed them all year, even went to Arkansas to see us get our butts handed to us and I will not give up on this program. For a lot of us LIFE IS...............ORANGE AND WHITE! Good and bad!
