There are still some face value tickets on ticketmaster but they’re all top few rows of the upper deck.

Be careful if you go. There are some really dangerous neighborhoods there, not sure where in relation to the Arena though.

Yum Center is downtown. Downtown hotels are fine and there are some nice restaurants to walk. One of the nice downtown hotels (Galt House) has a skyway to walk right over to the arena. Don’t go West of downtown IMO. Nicer/cheaper hotel area is the Jefferstown exit coming into town off of 64. 15 min drive to downtown.

I am booked into an EconoLodge on South 2nd Street . It looks to be less than half a mile from the arena. It is just across the corner from the Downtown Marriott. Is that a safe walk for a single 69 year old man at midnight? Or, will I be a sitting duck for street trash?

Walk is ok. Not sure about your 'neighbors' in the EconoLodge.

Yes you're fine. If you're into the night life and like going to bars check out 4th Street Live. Also I highly recommend going to Wild Eggs for breakfast.
