Loudest You Ever Heard Neyland/TBA?

I thought Cal 06 was awesome. A lot of frustration came out in that game.
Fla 04 was really loud. I also thought that the Notre Dame game in 04 was really loud in the 2nd half. Disappointed in that one though.

Who thinks that this year's Fla. has the chance to top all of em? I cannot wait for that game. Neyland will be louder than we have heard in a couple years for that one.

Having been to most of the games mentioned here, I'd have to say 2004 Florida was the loudest. I was lucky enough to be in the endzone section where the extra point was missed and the game winning FG was made. It was so loud after we scored the TD to go down by one and then SO QUIET after Wilhoit missed the extra point. Then it was even louder after the made FG. I could not even hear myself scream it was so loud.

I know. I'm just saying. I was at every home game from 2001-2005. The '04 UF game was really loud, but the '01 UGA game was the loudest. Just putting everything into perspective.

I have to agree....for the last 20 years I've been to all the FL/AL/GA/Auburn/ND/Cal/UCLA/....well, you get the picture, lol and that Georgia game was the loudest Neyland stadium has ever been. You could feel your body shake along with the upper deck. It felt like the whole stadium was going to shake apart from the noise levels.......then it went silent :cray:

On average however, it's been much quieter since we've won the national championship. This year, I want the sleeping giant to awake again and scare the sh** out of every team that dares to walk through her doors!!

Too many older fans that sit with their arms crossed and only raising their voice when making a snide remark about coaching. Until that changes one way or the other, that stadium will not be as loud as it used to be.

04 Florida or 06 Cal

Florida in 04 was insane. I believe that was the loudest but it ebbed and flowed. Parts of the game were quiet.

Cal in 06 was like the whole damn crowd unleashed their frustration out about the 05 season in one game. I've never heard the stadium get that loud and stay that loud.

I'm a UF fan and have only ever been to one game at neyland....04 UF-UT. That game will always be the one where the refs forgot to start the clock on our last possession. I personally don't think the stadium holds sound that well, but I do remember that when the field goal went through it got extrememly loud. Of course losing that game helped us get rid of Zook, so a means to an end. 3 in a row since.

I wholeheartedly agree about the older fans just sitting and spectating. It's frustrating that ALL Big Orange fans won't make noise in unison especially during critical junctures like when the opposition is in third down and any distance or knocking on the goal line. I'm a firm believer that massive crowd noise can influence a false start or obfuscate an audible. Until we ALL change, the 12th man will continue to cheer in other stadiums and not in Neyland.

Try Notre Dame in 1990. When we recovered the onside kick at the end of the game was the loudest I've ever heard it.......in contrast, when Andy Kelly threw the int in the end zone a moment later was probably the quietest I've ever heard it.

Still one of the greatest games I've ever wittnessed live, the talent assembled on the field that day was amazing.

I was there for that game and yes you are right ! I think I cried when Andy threw that int.

Kelly may have hit him, but the hit that put him out of the game was when Dale Jones hit him while he was bending over to pick a fumbled pitch.

Jackson left the game and as we all know the students started chanting "where did Bo go"

After that did not miss a home game until Bama in 2006 because I was on my Honeymoon. Scheduled to fly in early to make kick off but my wife convinced me to stay three extra days.
