Holtz is a Notre Dame homer and is just flat painful to listen to with all his slurring. He picks Notre Dame to win regardless of who they play every year. I've never thought that he respects the SEC like he should either. I guess he is jealous he couldn't win as a coach there.

I like ESPN*, I hate Lou Holtz, and I couldn't care less about people whining that ESPN "hates UT."

Lou Holtz brings nothing to the table but an unfortunate speech impediment and extreme homerism. I like watching college football, and sports in general, way too much to be able to tolerate his utter nonsense. He's not on ESPN for any reason other than entertainment value due to his speech, his mannerisms, and his immeasurable stupidity. He used to be a great coach (I think), it's rather unfortunate (I suppose) that he's used by ESPN as nothing more than a clown. At least Corso knows his role and plays it well. Holtz, I believe, really thinks that's he's an actual sports journalist, all the while the network and the rest of the world are laughing at him.

ESPN* - I "like" it because I love sports and they carry them.

just a shame to get online and make fun of an announcer,lou holtz will was one of best coaches ever,and please stop making fun the way he talks.he talks normal,and sounds great.and knows football,i actually picked boise st. to lose to virginia tech,because of the defensive coordinator.that there defensive coordinator came here to tennessee.

Lou needs to hang it up. I have a harder time understanding what he's saying every year. I think hes got benjamin button syndrome.

I hated listening to lundquist when he did UT games. Maybe its just me but that guy always seemed to hate UT.

Lou Holtz is fine, nearly everything he does is intentionally for a laugh, including the blatant homerism. It's just what he does. Believe it or not he does supply pretty good insight into the psyche of a college football team that non-coaching personnel (regular tv viewers) don't know or think about. And he's actually right about a lot of it.

He knows more about football than people give him credit for. He has 249 wins, a national championship (should have 2, got hosed in '93) and a bunch of very highly ranked finishes, and he's in the college football hall of fame as a coach.

Basically, he knows a lot, he's just doing everything for a gag and to be funny, and if you can understand that what he's saying (the tough part), he actually is pretty funny. Holtz is the comic relief to Mark May's seriousness. I like him a hell of a lot better than Lee Corso who is the ultimate favoritism homer who doesn't know what he's talking about at all (75 wins total in college and a losing record). I've always thought he was an idiot.

And Lundquist needs to be fired. Before tomorrow.

Perhaps folks that haven't had to tolerate Granny Holtz for the last 25+ years can stand him a bit more. I've just never gone for his bull**** as he cheated his way through the coaching profession, got schools in trouble, and blabbered his cliches any time a camera was anywhere he could get his face in front of it.

You would think by the way he beats his gums about it, he only coached at one school. Guess which one?

What schools did he get in trouble??? I take him for pure entertainment value, I don't think he even knows what he is saying half the time, with that said though the guy obviously knows football

Minnesota, Notre Dame, and South Carolina were all on some sort of probation by the time he left each school. Also had troubles at Arkansas...but I don't want to look it up.

Corso did have a stroke but it seemingly made him a little better, IMO. Of course, I change the channel whenever it feels like they're going to let him speak so maybe my opinion should be discounted a bit.

Regarding Holtz, I think ESPN should be held accountable for how they treat him...it appears to me they never ask him a question until he has a mouthful of oatmeal.

After thinking about this for a few minutes, could Holtz be suffering the effects of Corso's stroke?
