lots of potential juco commits, where does that leave us room for other needs?

So its looking like we are at the top for sentimore, Jacobs and autry. Unless I'm wrong we have five spots left, that leaves us with two spots left. Seems like we have ok shots with Patterson, Davis and mcullers. Plus extreme outside shots with guys like Collins and Hamilton. That's a whole lot of talent and not many spots left. How in the world is all of this going to work out? Remember too that were still what a month and a half from nsd. Thats a lot of time for other potential last minute full court presses to be made on other quality guys. Last year a lot of ppl thought we would be really tight but a couple big names seemingly bailed. Will this year be an actual numbers crunch where we have to maybe ( please don't flame and act like were above this as we have already done it to cross) ask some ppl to look around. or will things happen similar to last year? I know its all speculation at this point but how do you guys see us closing. List the five you think we end with or maybe even the six or seven. Please just don't list any particular players you think should be asked to look around just say whether you think it will have to happen to allow your end of class results.

Sorry for the huge paragraph. Go VOLS!!

I'll give the smartass reply but this is truly the only way to look at it right now. Let the coaches figure it out...that's what they are getting paid hundreds of thousands or even millions to do. No one outside of them really knows how it is going to be handled (maybe they don't even at this point).

Not trying to be a smartass back but that's why I said its speculation and asked ppl to post who they think the last five or so in will be.

Plus one other quality guy who comes up fast. Not an insider just a feeling. And we have one "decommit"

Admittedly I only read about half of the paragraph. :p

I'd like to see us drop Keithon Redding if we get C. Patterson. Also Bullock should (and most likely will) walk-on.

So...
Sentimore
Autry
O. Jacobs
Cochran
Patterson
and the pipe dream selections...one of Shanks/Hamilton/Kirven/McCullers

Would love to have kirven or shanks. Be a nasty haul of d players with one of them and the juco boys.

Good list -- I want Cochran as a part of this class and I believe Dooley is just looking at how to handle the numbers before putting on the hard close with him. Patterson will go down to NSD and both he and Sentimore need to make their grades. It looks like Hamilton will not even give us a visit so he is apparently out of the picture, but I still have some hope for one of Shanks/Kirven/Tomlinson/McCullers.

I also hope we do not give up on Elston -- he is good. And I believe we have a decent shot at either Davis or Pender -- I much prefer Davis. While at first glance the numbers do not appear to work out, Dooley has indicated by his actions that he will take any recruit that he thinks is elite or close to elite. If Patterson does not work out, he may go after another large, fast WR, and there may be some names pop up that we are not even thinking about at the moment.

I'm cool with the number of spots left. We needed a complete overhaul on the d-line....and we got it. Now, we have Perkins and Davis left to sign. Come on NSD.

The staff will work it out. I remember last summer on the forum I was hearing that "we are way behind", "Dooley can't recruit", yadda, yadda, yadda. Now we have a 5-7 season and even considering that we don't have enough room for some great players. I guess this shows how the emotional "I want it now crowd", "fire everybody" goobs think.

You will not have to wait until NSD(Feb 1) for things to start working themselves out. The next important date is December 21. Thats when Juco players can sign their national letters of intent. As you mentioned, we are recruiting alot of juco players so in 8 days things will get real interesting. :good!:

Is this one of the 3 bases Special Forces units like the 160th Pilots that fly the seals into take out OBL. I know Ft. Campbell, and I believe Georgia has them stationed there but I believe Washington State has a base where some are stationed also. Is this the Base?

At this point it semi looks like Santos and McNeil might be on the fence about signing with UT. Two open spots right there. Granted, I do not want to lose them, but that is why this staff is out visiting so many players. They know the potential of which players are likely to sign else where. It will all work itself out in the end.

I like the look of many JuCo players coming in, immediate impact, and already built up somewhat. Bullock should be a walk-on, which would leave 6 open, and expecting 1-2 decommits.. Leaving room for O. Jacobs, C. Patterson, Autry, Sentimore, Cochran, and hopefully Shanks.. Then one long run recruit such as Collins (Really want to see him here).

With the recent history of UT juco tranfers I'm not so sure if I would be to excited about any juco guys coming in. In theory, it would be nice to have some impact players who are physically ready to play come in. I say, go get the best guys as they come, because you never know how these kids will be on NSD. Treying to hold back or hold schollys for a kids or two could backfire and end up with us making desperation offers at non impact players.
