As I read the various threads it is a little disheartening that some folks on here have written this season off before we even play our first game. I realize that UT may not be the SEC favorites; however should we not at least give the new staff and the players a chance to prove what they can accomplish on the field? I may be mistaken, so I apologize up front if I am wrong, but aren't the practices pretty much closed to the public? If the practices are closed then no one truly knows how good we are and what our potential is going into the season. I know that Coach Dooley has had a few comments on how the team looks, but I don't believe that it is his style to boast on how impressive the team looks, even if the team was awesome. Coach Dooley seems more like the guy that will let his team’s ability speak for its self out on the field. I for one am proud of our team and think that they will be playing with a huge chip on their shoulders this season. You know what they about a wild dog being backed into a corner, well it seems to me that a whole lot of people have backed old Smokey and his boys into a tight corner, watch out. As for me, I am pumped about this season and believe that we are going to surprise a lot of people, to include some individuals on this site. Go Vols!

I would say that 7 regular season wins would be quite an achievement. I am not going to sell this staff and these players short by not believing in them. I think 7 wins is possible and I think that we will be competitive and possibly win even more.

CDD just needs to get this team to a bowl game. That will keep the program headed in the right direction and keep top recruits from avoiding TN in Februrary.

Good post! I think the O-line is already spittin' mad at all the negative crap and are ready to scrap.

Start with a competitive football team. Then set your hopes higher for a bowl game. We have got to remember, last season we were competitive in every game except Ole Miss. and we barely made a nice bowl. Start with being competitive....then look at. We need to see what we have when the lights are on and Rocky Top is playing.

I think when people talk about 7 or more wins they are being positive. I have a lot of faith in this team and staff but we are thin in most spots and young and or inexperienced. To me 7 wins with our present situation is the equivalent of Bama winning the SECCG.

Im still positive and think we are gonna surprise people! But its kinda gone down some with these injuries. Losing Walls and Martin right of the bat hurt us bad, and we already lost Myles and Oliver.
We have lost so many players in the last 2 years, had 2 coaching changes, and lots of injuries! Yet we are still predicted to be 6-6 by most! Shows how good of a program we have and how great we will be again soon!
If DD and staff can coach up, and I think they can, then we will STILL surprise!!

The only problem is this. Oregon, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, South Carolina and unfortunately with Masoli, Ole Miss. Kentucky will want their turn too. But hey! who knows.

I like to thank we will be like Auburn last year. No one gave them a chance last you and went to a bowl game last year. And had bama on the ropes like we did....

I'm ready. I'll be disapointed if (when) we lose a game but no different than any other year. Waited to long (for football season) to start out the season feeling bad. I'll wait to I have something feel bad about first.
It's gonna at least start out fun.
The feeling in the air just before kick off (of a vols game) is still a very special feeling for me.
GBO!
