Amongst all the problems with Tennessee Football right now losing Dave Lawson may have been a bigger blow than any of us may have realized at the time. Particularly with the run game this year. I just can't believe the gap between the success of the rushing attack last year compared to now.

The reason the running game sucks this year is because Dobbs has decided that he can no longer complete a pass on a consistent basis and teams are simply stacking the box. Not to mention a lack of continuity on the oline due to several injuries, eventually defenses will adjust if you are a one dimensional team like UT is at the moment.

From what I remember Dobbs wasn't a very consistent passer last year either. Or the year before that or the year before that. The Vols couldn't run the ball against Appy State or Ohio. They ran the ball with success against just about everyone last season.

This is what I don't understand.

We are weak as a team.. Our oline is obviously physically weak.. We need an overhaul in our S&C program. I would've figured that kamara wouldve let us in on the roids Bama takes

Same fans on here complained about Lawson last year. Best way to be respected as a coach on this board is to leave. :)

Lawson had stepped back from the football team before 2015 season and was over seeing all S&C for all the athletic teams. He was doing less with football before leaving the athletic program entirely. Doesn't mean he isn't missed just that he was less involved with football prior to his leaving.

Thanks. I knew of what seemed like a promotion for him. What was the reasoning behind him leaving?

Biggest loss before the season started. Never trust a fat guy to get athletes into shape.

Never trust a skinny chef! Seriously, our offense is what has brought this on. The line isn't developing. Dobbs cannot pass down the field accurately. Horrible calls from DeBord. Saturday night Dobbs threw a bunch 5 yard passes when we needed 10-12 for a first down.
