I stopped following him after he played for KC Kings. Dont know his career after that. I did like his game though.

I have not heard of him since he played for the Hawks.

Spent some time with Pitino at Louisville, had a couple of solid years at New Mexico St., and a forgettable cup of coffee with the Kings.

You'd think DePaul could have done better, but I guess they couldn't pass up the allure of bringing Rush Street Reggie home to Chicago.

Hat, what's the likelihood that this (poor) hiring decision will ultimately have a much greater significance around here in say, three years or so?

When they run this guy, who might be next?

I have a feeling Theus might work out for them, if he gets the job. All anyone has to do to win at DePaul is convince some of those Chicago kids to stay at home. Theus talks a good game, and when it comes to recruiting hijinks, you can't do much better than to have played for Tark and coached under Pitino.

When he was at NMSU, the suspicion was always that he wanted to go back to Vegas, but then Lon Kruger got that program going again, and he's not going anywhere unless he wants to.

I thought DePaul hired Oliver Purnell? Uh oh, I hope this isn't a case of "they all look alike".;)

No, the news about Purnell broke long after we were discussing Theus last night.

That's what Theus gets for calling assistants and asking them to join his staff before he signs a contract. Purnell isn't any better. I really wonder what goes on in the heads of athletic directors.

No, and what is Purnell doing going there? Lose lose for both parties.

Paying Oliver Purnell over 2 mil per is akin to paying Ruth's Chris prices for a Hardee's Thickburger.

Hat, who will Clemson look to replace Purnell?
If they are smart, their first phone call is to Gregg Marshall. I'd assume Mike Rice, Blaine Taylor, and Shaka Smart would be discussed. If he wants to get out of Oklahoma ahead of a rapidly forming angry mob, Jeff Capel might get involved.

Nice call...

It is surprising that DePaul is considered a significantly better job by Oliver than Clemson. He should certainly expect more patience, but it seems like a step down program and prestige wise.
