Looks Like Our QB Nunes Isn't Coming....

If you guys don't want boos then put a good product on the field. It's one thing to get beat by a better team it's another to look like it's spring practice.

Exactly. As depressing and upsetting as the losses to Florida and LSU at home 2 years ago were, I don't remember hearing boos at all.

There wasn't any. Tennessee simply got beat by better teams despite giving good efforts. It takes an absolutely abysmal effort to produce widespread booing in Neyland Stadium.

It's not about the distance - that's a complete red herring. He decommitted because of the d*mn booers. Plain and simple. We will lose Giles and many more because of the booers too.

Are you happy now? I'm not a Fulmer supporter, but the booing is unacceptable. Even if Fulmer resigned or were fired tomorrow, those booing at the UAB/Florida games put a down payment for a mediocre program for the foreseeable future. The cupboard will be near empty very soon. Thanks.

Also, the "we're booing the coaches, not the players" argument is ridiculous. Nobody in his right mind believes that, and few high school seniors would see that nuance even if it were true.

Was you even at the d*mn game. You don't need to call us d*mn booers, because if you were there you would have been a d*mn booer too.:banghead2:

about the travel problem and he was opening up recruiting. before the booing. did anybody watch the pats fans boo them as miami was waxing them saturday? did you hear the boo's at auburn during the first half saturday night. boo's are part of the landscape in sports home and away. either the coaching staff deals with it like adults and informs the kids the boo's are directed at them or they sit on their butts and let kids minds wander. if the boo's bother coaches and players they need to get tougher and come together and play better. go vols

I agree with this edited statement. First, its we suck now it's lets call all the recruits liars for the reasons they may or may not come here. Unreal the thoughts of some of you guys on here, it's almost as bad as those who think we will get back to Atlanta this year. BTW, if players can't handle booing, I don't want them here in the first place. Cheering and booing are the only way we as fans can communicate to you how you are doing your job on the field. Grow up, get some leather on your skin, and come play to prove your who you say you are.

The funny thing is that I don't even remember what I said that got edited or removed. Must not have been very important.

(Oh, I remember.....I'm radioactive!)

good job fans. way to shoot yourselves in the butt. you people who boo, need to stay at home and watch it on tv. you know who you are...... morons.

Well the players and coaches aren't doing themselves any favors by basically smiting the fans either. So perhaps they should keep that in mind before worrying about what the fans opinion is.

I'd like to think that recruits are paying as much attention to the whining that the players and coaches are doing in the fans direction than what the fans are doing. They may have booed, but there were still 106k people there.

So basically he knows he has lost it* as a coach.

*the edge, the fanbase, any chance at a successful season, etc

Which, unfortunately, seems to be the one thing that Phil can consistently produce.

It is what it is. College football...major college football...is about competing, winning, and championships. At both the conference and national level. In the last ten years, UT has failed the test.

Ten Years.

Most of us have bought a new car, or two, or three, since our last SEC Championship. Some of you have kids who are in 5th grade who weren't born yet the last time Fulmer made some noise on the national scene. Think about all the changes in your life over the last ten years. And then think about the one thing that has not changed: UT is still looking for their first SEC Championship in ten years. Ten years. And they have been conspicuously absent from the national stage for the same span.

Is this UT football? Is this honoring the General's legacy? Is this success? Are you satisfied?

Hoss, when the once-proud Tennessee Volunteers are featured in ESPN's "Bottom 10"...it's time we take a hard look at where we are.

And who got us there.

go vols.

5th graders weren't alive in 2001?

Dang, those are some smart kids.

LSU won the SEC Championship in 2001. The only "noise" they made that year was folding in the SECCG.

Guess who the head coach was?

Welcome to 5th grade.

It didn't take a crystal ball to see this coming. Getting an early commitment from these kids is great but after seeing all them blow away with the wind over the years I don't waste much time if any following it until right before signing. They are kids and kids don't know what they are going to do the following day and especially what they will be doing in 6 months.! Plus most of them have been spoiled rotten and mommy doesn't make them follow through with what they promise. Let him go! We need players that WANT to wear orange for a change. Sometimes it's better to have devotion than have top 5 talent. A half hearted Bluechip player just pisses me off.

You mean top talent isn't lured by the prospects of working like heck to lose to powerhouses like Maryland, Vanderbilt and UCLA??

Shocking.

That's really hard to respond to. Players that want to wear the orange are good if they are talented enough to compete in the SEC. Devotion is good but talent is better. Hey, wait a minute, could a coach get talented and devoted players to come to UT and coach them into a winning squad? Hmmmm, interesting concept...

First off, I will never set in the stands and boo the Big Orange...just not my thing.

I do however, think that anyone sitting in the stands has the right to boo the product we have seen so far this year. People spend lots and lots of money to go to the UT games. When the money that is being spent to go gets spent, I think you havethe right to expect a quality product. If not, we could all go to Maryville College games. Not that their is anything wrong with MC games. I am sure they cost nowhere near $50+ to get tickets.

People are spending thousands to see UT play. The head coach is making millions.

Do I think it hurts recruiting? I am sure it does. I also think nearly any "big time" program in the country in going to have the same problems when their team is not playing good.

I do not think it is all that fair for the players to be booed. I also do not think the argument, they are just kids is all that either. These guys are going to college on a free ride TO PLAY FOOTBALL...and to play at a high level. Some them are in college and would go whether they were playing football or not. I think a large percentage of them are there thinking they can play at the next level. I do not know what that percentage would be. I would think that most scholarship players playing D1 football in the SEC think they have a shot at the NFL, especially when they first get to college.

College football is big business. I think fans can boo if they are not happy with what they see.

Once again, I DO NOT boo when I am in the stands. I do however understand why people are booing.

IT STARTED out at Alabama with boos in 95 or so...
got worse..
change coaches.
bad season...change coach
bad season
change coach..
change coach..
13 years later they are back in top 10....

Anyone want to have a 13 year span like that???????

Same thing happened to LSU and others, it's a path best left to the foolish.

Your attempt at ridicule of me is merely
the projection of your stupidity and ignorance.

I see you are pretty good at starting a fight,
how good are you at finishing??

That isn't too blah blah for you to understand is it?

First off, I will never set in the stands and boo the Big Orange...just not my thing.

Can you tell me the name of the referee of the UT/Fla game?? Not trying to be smart or anything, I am interested in knowing the answer though.

...and it begins. Nunes will be the first of MANY. Fulmer will not survive this season. We will finally have a new head football coach at UT next year.

For all the world, you sound just exactly like the average Bama fan.

You're comparing me to a fan of the #8 team in the country with one of the best head coaches in college football. No. Unfortunately I'm a fan of a hideous UT team heading for certain SEC bottom-feeder status with no positive future until it fires its incompetent head coach.
