Well, it appears that John Currie is going back to CoachMart and getting a coach off the old bargain shelf, just like his mentor, Mike Hamilton and Dave Hard did when they hired Derek Dooley and Butch Jones. I daresay we can expect the same bargain results as we got from those two, so I won't be surprised.

I plan to be on campus for the protest on Saturday... and I am already campaigning for Currie and Davenport to be fired. This search process has been the most inept coach search since the search for Dooley's replacement, which was the worst search since looking for the replacement for Kiffin!

Folks, the phones in David Golden's office ought to ring off the hook day and night in protest of the incompetence shown by Currie and Davenport.

The all time worst hire was Dooley. Didn't even have a winning record at La Tech.

Jones at least won conference titles at both previous locations, and had a solid win percentage.

And was, hands down, much better than Dooley.

So the last coaching search was not nearly as big a disaster as you say. In fact, this one is worse so far, IMO.

Idiocy at it's finest. Jones followed Brian Kelly at just about every stop and had rebuilt the programs before Jones ever took over. He had never rebuilt anything. At best he was a maintainer. Brohm may not be Chip Kelly but has done a pretty fantastic job at Perdue in one year which is something Jones nor Dooley can claim. Not to mention he has had several top 10 offenses.

I'm certainly not defending Butch as the greatest hire of all time, but he absolutely was a huge upgrade of Dooley, and their respective records at UT prove this.

And let me clear something up for you...I'm not opposed to Brohm at all. I think we could do far worse.

I'm just comparing this search to the one that resulted in Butch Jones being hired. (And FTR Jones was way down my list).

2013 we get very publicly rejected by Strong and Gundy then hire Jones. This year we melt down over Schiano and then get publicly rejected again by Gundy and now maybe by Brohm (though I hope not).

Just saying that the last coaching search, while it wasnt great, did go more smoothly than this one.

Having said that, what matters is that this one END better. And it still can. :):hi:

Outside of recruiting Dooley was 5x better. You ever see Butch make the right decision on the field in a close game?
Dooley never made bad choices cause we never got close enough for him to f up on the field.

Butch Jones had no idea what he was doing.

And BTW, I won't let this one slide. If by "Idiocy" you are expressing your opinion of the last coaching search, I don't entirely disagree and you are entiltled to your opinion.

If instead, you are commenting on what you think of my opinion, well, I have plenty I could say about that.

I am going to assume the first. :)

Wow....I can't believe you'd even go there. Butch actually had three consecutive winning seasons, beat Uga and Florida in the same year, beat Uga two years running, beat USC Junior when they were a top 15 team in his first year, and won three bowls in a row.

He wasn't great, but he was much, much better than Dooley.

Butch didn't win any SEC games his last season, but Dooley was 0-15 in his last TWO years.

Butch was pretty bad in game, but it's not like Dooley was brilliant either. How many times did 10 (or 12 or 13) men take the field in the Dooley era? How about the decision to go for it on 4th and one on his own 30 early in the 2011 bammer game down only 6 early 3rd quarter?

Don't get me started dude!!!

Wow...I can't believe you went there. Unreal...smh.

Leach
Dantonio
Taggert
Norvell
Kiffin
Strong
Sumlin
Tedford

No particular order.

Currie ought to be able to get one of those guys with a offer of up to $7 million. I am not campaigning for him, but Tedford did very well at Cal a number of years ago, and has FresnoState kicking now. They beat Boise ST the other night and will be playing for their conference championship this weekend. They looked strong on both offense and defense. With the right coordinators and assistants... he might be able to clean up our ashes. I'm saying this because most UT fans don't know much about him. FS is ranked 25 right now.

Embarrassing...Currie has made us the laughing stock of college football. No one wants to be the coach of Tennessee football!
